Have you ever felt a presence in your house, but turned around and nothing was there?
Or seen a shadow out of the corner of your eye? Or felt a light touch on your cheek?
Smelled your grandmother’s cooking, well after she’s crossed over?
Have you heard your father’s favorite song on the radio station, just when you were thinking of him, or seen your sister’s favorite flower, way too early for it to normally bloom?
Okay, enough questions!
If you’ve answered yes to any of these, you may already be receiving signs from your loved ones or Spirit Guides.
While sometimes, these are just coincidences, but other times, it really IS an attempt at communication from spirit. My general rule for knowing the difference is – when you think it’s a sign from the spirits, it’s mostly likely a sign from the spirits. Trust yourself. Since spirits have a limited ability to affect physical happenings on our plane – they often get crafty in ways to visit you. Some spirits have learned how to manipulate electronics, bring favorite birds, animals and flowers your way, play songs on the radio, move (misplace) items in your home, waft fragrances into your sensory space, give you a light touch, or even say your name! However, the most common ways to be visited by spirit is still in the world of dreams.
For spirits, learning how to ‘send signs’ is a skill that takes practice and they often need time to learn how to visit you, thus, try not to expect advanced tricks from someone who has just crossed over .So, how do you ask to for a sign that a deceased loved one or spirit guide is watching over you? Well first, keep an open mind for anything to happen! You may receive your sign in an unexpected way. I recently asked my own father for a sign of his presence, and he turned on a radio in my house at 2 a.m.!
Another time, I asked for a sign from the spirits, and as soon as I opened my front door the following morning, two white doves landed on my door step. Be open to anything out of the ordinary – including synchronicities, and try not to dismiss what is sent to you. The biggest preventative in not receiving a sign, but noticing one that is sent your way, is you. In other words, try not to pre-decide how your sign will come and let the magic happen. Spirits do work really hard to communicate and many times, they like to joke around with the signs they send you! Be open.
Ask for your Sign.
Once you’ve got an open mind, sit down in a quiet space. I prefer mornings, since the spirits have all day to work with you . Calm your mind and focus on your breath. Once relaxed, comfortable, and in a peaceful place, ask for a specific deceased relative or spirit guide for a sign that they are present with you at this time. You can ask out loud, or in your mind – either way, they will hear you. Then, be open for receiving a sign.
And . . . that's it! That's all it takes.
If you don’t receive one right away, keep asking, and wait for one. There no time in the spirit world, and they are often on very different schedules than us. However, if you impatient, (like me), I often given them a one-week deadline to speed up the process. If you want to ask for a specific sign, try to ask them for something related to what they were interested in on earth. They may not know how to move clocks or turn on radios yet, so if you ask for that, you may not receive it. However, did your mother love bird watching? Ask her to send you a bird. Did your grandfather love wildflowers? Choose a flower for him to send your way.
