Also called the bewitching hour, in this post, we discuss The Witching Hour, when is it, and what happens during witching hour -

The Witching Hour, the time of night with the highest spiritual activity, is first thought to be referenced in a poem, titled A Fragment, from 1793.

In it, Mary Robinson defines The Witching Hour as after midnight. In present days, with electrical lighting, radio, and more, this magical time of night is now thought to be later in the evening.

Though this poem references Owls of the night, The Witching Hour refers to the time of day when the human ability to sense Spirit increases.

Spirits themselves are active all the time.

However, when there are fewer human-induced interferences that affect subtle energy equipment, it can be easier to sense them.

Generally, when humans are sleeping, and electronic activity decreases, it can be easier to sense the subtle influences produced by spirits.

The Urban Dictionary defines The Witching Hour as -

The hour between 3 am and 4 am when the barrier between the physical realm and the spiritual realm is the thinnest, which makes it easier for beings such as Angels, Ghosts, and Demons to enter into the physical realm.

In my experience, if it were one hour, that would be it. Though in many cases, The Witching Hour is generally more than this one hour. It can sometimes start closer to one or two in the morning, or right after the moon has peaked, which can also be around midnight depending on the time of year and season.

Overall, The Witching Hour tends to start a few hours after nautical twilight is complete and persists until about an hour or two before nautical dawn, or between 1 am - 4 am local time.

The opposite of The Witching Hour

The opposite of The Witching Hour is known as the Golden Hour. The Golden Hour is when light is at it’s prettiest here on the Earth Plane.

Usually, it is easiest to access clairsentience during The Golden Hours, and empathically connect to the Spiritual Beings on Earth - other humans, animals.

The Golden Hours usually start around 4 pm in the wintertime and last until around 7 pm in the summertime.

What happens during The Witching Hour?

The Witching Hour is considered one of the most spiritual times of the day as it is usually easier to see and sense The Spirit World because all other energetic wavelengths are at their lowest, so the more subtle ones can come forward. You can get some great connections to Spirit this time.

During The Witching Hour, it’s a great time to sense and perceive Spirits and receive messages directly from Spirit. For some, it is also when their claircognizance is highest - their ability to receive divine revelation.

The energy during The Witching Hour can be so crisp, so intuitions also tend to feel stronger and more energetic.

To connect with Spirit during these hours, check out -

If you are being woken up during these hours repeatedly, it’s okay to stay awake and listen and tune in to what’s happening. There may be a message, and your intuition and Spirit Guides are leading you to it.

Some people remain awake at particular times of the year when the veil is thin during The Witching Hour, to write down dreams and observe the night and its beauty.
