Grounding is the act of going within, connecting to mother nature, and reuniting with your rooted, physical self.
It balances all spiritual action in the upper chakras and can help pull you back down into the lower chakras’ primal powers, such as creating stability, security, creativity and confidence.
Anytime is an excellent time for grounding.
Grounding can be a comforting, nourishing act of self care and there are many ways to do it. Below I want to share seven ways to ground your energy.
7 Tips For Grounding Your Energy
1. Music
Music is known as vibrational sound therapy. I suggest starting with as primitive as you can do - start with bird song, try any musical instruments you have on hand and consider drumming or chimes.
You can also allow yourself to be inspirationally guided to choosing different playlists or music stations.
2. Nourishing Beverages
Choose a drink that feels nourishing to you. In the winter, it could be something warming, like hot chocolate, coffee or tea. In the summer, it could be something like fresh cold water or juice.
A lot of people find tea, kombucha or mushroom infused drinks to be grounding.
Experiment to see what works for you. Start your day with a grounding beverage, ideally one you have in your own cabinets already, but if you feel inspired to try a new one, do. Rotate between a few different kinds and observing how each makes you feel. Ask other people what works for them and try their recommendations.
For me, I love a nice iced green tea, chai or coffee in the summer in the morning. In the winter, my preference is for a warm espresso drink.
3. Find An Oasis
It could be a waterway, the top of a hill or an open meadow at just the right time of day. It could be your crafting room.
When you go somewhere that activates a greater feeling of interconnectedness, it's grounding. You want to go somewhere that you can see, hear or feel a connection to All That Is.
Do you know somewhere where this is for you?
This oasis may be outside your window.
I like going to the same place over a long period and observe the changes. The more you visit somewhere, the more you get to know it and you’ll notice new things to appreciate.
Go to your oasis. Immerse yourself in the feelings of wonder and connectedness. Care for this space, protect it and take actions to continue its existence.
4. Essential Oils
I like essential oils. They are the essence of a plant, and some plants give off so much oil and grow quite quickly, meaning the oil is rather renewable.
Vetiver is a watergrass that's rooted in more fluid soils. It has a rich, earthy scent.
Get your grounding essential oil and anoint yourself with it. Before meditating, apply your essential oil to your temples. Inhale your essential oil by placing a few drops in your palms, rubbing your palms together and then cupping them over your nose
5. Plant Spirit Medicine
Plat Spirit Medicine is herbalism but with a spiritual element. You connect with the Spirit of the plant and allow it to guide you on how to incorporate the herb into your routine to support your wellness.
All herbs can be grounding, it just depends on what emotions, thoughts or sensations they are balancing out.
Typically to find out what herbals are most grounding at any time of year, I head to my natural health foods store or section of the store and notice which herbs are being highlighted or advertised. This can tell you which imbalances are trending in the collective and give you a hint as to what you may need as well.
6. Wear Heavy Clothing
Having heavy clothing, blankets, or things to wear can remind the physical body to send the energy down to your feet, which can be grounding. Head to your closet and select a piece of clothing that you consider cozy - a sweater, a blanket or a certain pair of socks. Wear that item.
7. Grounding Meditations or Mantras
Using a grounding meditation like this one or grounding affirmations like these can help affirm peace, safety and security to your energy body, and help you ground.

Primitive music
