Spiritual Meaning Of A Tickle In The Throat
amanda linette meder
Have an itchy throat? Wondering the metaphysical meaning of coughing a lot?
The world of Spirit says that all physical illness ultimately stems from existential diseases.
And when I was in my twenties, I got a ticket on a research trip to Ecuador to study the food systems of the jungle compared with the food systems of the mountainous north.
At the time, there was a limited transfer system between the people growing crops in the lowlands of the rural parts of the country and the people growing plants at high altitudes.
So ultimately, everyone up on the mountain was eating tons of potatoes and other cold-weather foods, and a lot of it, and everyone down below was eating a ton of fruit.
Both parties were malnourished. However, if a stable transfer system could be implemented, all parties would have all the nourishment they needed.
While there, as researchers trying to figure out how everyone could eat, be nourished and trade foods, we met with Shamans, executives at the World Health Organization and leaders of the communities.
What I learned on that trip was that food distribution is a lot more complicated and involves deeper social issues than merely arranging a truck to go back and forth.
I also learned that some physical problems are not entirely spiritual. For example, a few of the Shamans I met while there, thought that parasites were a physical illness that did not have a spiritual origin.
I happen to agree with the idea that not everything has a spiritual origin, and some of it, could be vector related.
All this to say, if you are continually ill for any reason, it could have a physical input source rather than a spiritual one. Routing out the spiritual areas of imbalance can definitely help.
You can also receive spiritual guidance on physical issues, such as where to look for help and nutrients that could assist you.
Now let’s discuss the potential spiritual origins of a cough.
If you have a tickle in the throat or a dry cough, and there is no explainable physical reason for this, something Spiritual may be happening.
Spiritual reasons for a cough or tickle in the throat
A few possible ideas:
- Healer Maggi Nimmo writes a cough is related to wanting to get rid of the emotions of not being your own master.
- In my own work, I've found when Spirit wants to speak through you, often, they'll attempt to tap into your energy through your Throat Chakra.
Spirit may be attempting to speak through you - through your clairaudient abilities, and there may be other aspects of yourself wanting to be heard.
Governed by the Throat Chakra, clairaudient abilities are housed by the energetic center responsible for speaking your truth clearly and hearing the truth of others, clearly.
Within the energetic center of the fifth Chakra, the throat, you can share what you genuinely feel, and you also can hear the real and genuine feelings of others. So a tickle in the throat can also represent a Throat Chakra block.
To reduce the cough, honor your clear-listening/speaking
Listen more carefully to others in the physical world
Give yourself the time, space, and attention to begin to listen to those in Spirit around you
Use the affirmation, I am noticed and appreciated in the most positive ways.
It Could Be Spirit Speaking Through You
If you believe a Spirit is linking in with you and causing this tickle, tune in.
Hearing Spirit begins as hearing a buzzing, a ringing or a popping in your ears. It can also start as hearing short, direct, and brief voices in your head. It can even begin, in a very unsuspected way -
I talked about this in another post, called Crossing The Line: When Spirit Links With Your Body To Communicate, but I want to mention it again here. Some people feel a tickle when Spirit is attempting to connect with their energy.
Spirit can enter into your energy space and merge just ever so slightly with you.
While here, Spirit can say the words of the Divine right from your own mouth or if you are writing, deliver them right from your own hands.
A tickle in the throat could be a sign you are a divine channel
Have you ever given an eloquent speech to someone, that you knew was really good, but right after, you have no idea where that came from or how you knew that?
Have you ever sat down to explain something, and when you thought you were going to write just a sentence, turns out, you had at least three paragraphs fly out of you?
Have you ever given a big speech, or prepared to share your feelings with someone, only to right before, not be able to stop coughing, needing a glass of water or a cough drop?
Okay, the last one could be nerves.
But otherwise, these are all signs you may be able to channel a Higher Source, your Spirit Guides, and Angels to deliver clairaudient messages.
Meaning, the tickle could be Spirit attempting to speak through you.
As you recognize signs of Spirit manifesting in and around you, if you haven't already, I recommend the Spirit Identification Key eBook available in the Online Store.
It can help identify those in Spirit so you can be more alert and aware, if you feel like this tickle could be a connection through the Throat Chakra and Spirit.
So to recap, if you experience a tickle, a cough, or an itch in your throat:
Right before speaking something profound, it's a possible sign that a Spiritual being is linking in with you here, at your Throat Chakra, to help you deliver the message clearly.
It could also be a sign your Spirit is wanting to be heard and begging you to speak up.
It could also be a sign your soul is needing to express some emotions.
It could also be a sign you need to take care of any sickness that is coming up in a sacred, beautiful way.
Have a cough drop. A glass of tea.
If your physical body is getting sick, know that this is common for healers and that everyone needs downtime to recover. There is even something called a Spiritual Flu, which happens when you've been pushing yourself too hard.
Wellness workers, usually driven by their desire to heal the world and that there is "not enough done yet" often do fall ill. This will continue to happen until health and wellness is balanced in your own personal world.
If you are the healer in your family, know that balance is assured for you.
Set reasonable boundaries with your loved ones and treat yourself lovingly, and others in your family will begin to follow suit, too.
These are just a few of the spiritual theories as to what a tickle of the throat means, take some time to think about which resonates with you most, and then for further exploration, check out a few of the articles below -
