6 Ways Your Intuition Speaks to You
From gut feelings to goosebumps, your intuition has many ways of guiding you.
Learning to identify these sensations helps you make decisions with greater clarity, confidence, and peace.
In this post, you’ll discover what intuition feels like in the body and the most common ways your intuitive self communicates with you.
I’ve been teaching intuitive development for over 12 years, and I can honestly say — learning to trust and follow my intuition has been one of the most profound gifts of my life.
When you understand what your intuition feels like, it becomes so much easier to make aligned choices and move confidently toward (or away from) certain relationships, opportunities and experiences.
So let’s explore the six main ways your intuition speaks — because you can’t follow your inner guidance if you don’t know how it shows up.
But before we get there, a gentle reminder:
Listening to Your Intuition Takes Practice
Like any spiritual or energetic skill, tuning into your intuition takes time and experience.
Sometimes you’ll sense a subtle feeling or inner voice before making a choice, ignore it, and then later realize — that was my intuition trying to warn or guide me!
Missing those messages is actually part of learning how to recognize intuition so don’t beat yourself up about it.
Every time you reflect on an intuitive nudge you overlooked, you’re strengthening your awareness for next time.
The more you practice, the more familiar those intuitive signals will feel — and the easier it becomes to trust them in real time.
6 Common Signs Your Intuition Is Speaking to You
1. A Strong Positive or Negative Feeling
One of the most recognizable signs of intuition is a strong emotional or physical feeling often centered in your heart or solar plexus chakras.
Your intuition doesn’t always explain why you feel a certain way; it simply communicates through energy.
These sensations are known as empathic or clairsentient insights, meaning you’re receiving intuitive information through feeling rather than logic.
You don’t have to know the reason right away. Just notice and trust that the “why” will make sense later.
2. An Inner Voice or Message
Another common way intuition speaks is through a quiet inner voice — a steady, gentle thought that repeats itself or nudges you to take action.
If you keep thinking, “I really should call that person,” or “Something’s telling me to double-check that,” — pay attention. That’s often your intuition guiding you.
Try writing these messages down and tracking how often they repeat. True intuitive messages tend to linger until they’re acknowledged.
3. An Inspired or Sudden Impulse
Have you ever had the sudden urge to take a different route home or drop everything to do something seemingly random — only for it to lead to something magical?
These spontaneous nudges are sometimes called Divine Impulses.
They can come from your Higher Self, Spirit Guides or Ancestors trying to align you with the right place, person, or opportunity.
Follow these intuitive impulses when you feel them — you might later find yourself saying,
“I don’t know why, but something told me to do it… and it turned out perfectly!”
4. All-Over Body Tingles or Goosebumps
Feeling tingles, chills, or goosebumps for “no reason” is often your intuition confirming something true or meaningful. It’s your body’s way of saying:
Yes — this is aligned.
Pay attention to when those sensations arise; they can be a physical signal that your intuition agrees.
5. Feeling Called to Say Something
Sometimes your intuition speaks through words you feel guided to share.
You might blurt out exactly what someone needed to hear without even knowing why.
These are intuitive moments of service, meant to bring healing, comfort or understanding.
True intuitive messages are always positive, supportive, or loving.
You’ll never be guided to say something harsh or hurtful. If negative thoughts arise, take a breath, clear your energy and reconnect with your Higher Self before speaking.
6. A Gut Feeling
A “gut feeling” is one of the most well-known intuitive sensations — often signaling that something isn’t right or not in your highest good.
You might feel tightness, unease, or heaviness in your stomach area when faced with a situation, person or decision.
When that happens, honor it. Step back, take space, and notice if the feeling lightens. If it does, you’ve just confirmed your intuition was guiding you correctly.
Your intuition is your soul’s language — gentle, wise, and always guiding you toward your highest good. Each time you honor its whispers, you strengthen your connection to your true self.
