Astrology is an ancient field of study linking the movement and properties of the celestial bodies to human behavior and events on earth.

It is a type of divination practiced worldwide and it links earthly happenings with the interpretation of the sun, moon, stars and other planets.

When you study and practice astrology, you believe the heavenly bodies can influence life on earth and the study of Astrology begins with the zodiac.

The zodiac is a ring of constellations extending 9 degrees on either side of the ecliptic, the plane of the Earth’s orbit and the Sun’s path throughout each year. The orbit of the moon and other principal planets in our galaxy are also along the ecliptic.

The ancient Greeks called this ring the zōdiakos kyklos, “circle of animals” or ta zōdia, “the little animals,” because many of the constellations along the zodiac are interpreted as animals. While the “circle of animals” is a cuter phrase than “ecliptic,” they do refer to the same thing.

What is my astrological sign?

Interpreting the movements of the planets and stars through these constellations is how you make astrological predictions.

To begin making astrological predictions about your own life, you first have to identify your astrological sign (also called your zodiac sign, sun sign, star sign or birth sign).

Your astrological sign is the constellation the Sun is passing through on its orbit around the ecliptic when you were born

To identify your astrological sign, find your birthdate in the ranges below. The corresponding constellation to your birthday is your astrological sign.

There are 12 astrological signs and they’re each associated with a constellation in the zodiac. Each constellation in the zodiac has a symbol, which is the shape the stars make when you connect them in a drawing.

The zodiac signs are arranged in three groups; cardinal, fixed or mutable which are linked to the seasons. Cardinal signs begin each season, fixed signs embody the essence of each season and mutable signs transition us from one season to the next.

As another way to apply a seasonal quality to the sign, each zodiac sign is also arranged in four alchemical element groups, called a triplicity. Your zodiac sign can be a fire, earth, air or water sign.

The zodiac calendar begins the astrological new year in the spring with the Spring Equinox. It doesn’t start in January like the Gregorian Calendar, so below you will see the astrological signs in order, but starting in March rather than January.
