Where's My Feedback? Handling Commentary On Your Reading

Whenever you open up your perceptions to the eyes, ears, and hearts of others, you're going to get a response, so you may as well be prepared for it.

If you’re an actively practicing intuitive in any form, or simply stretching your wings and have only begun giving readings, one of the most commonly sought after exchanges for your work is validation in the form of words and referrals.

Validation for your reading, the information you gave, and the services you provided feels terrific.

When clients, friends, and family give you feedback stating just how accurate the healing information you provided was - it’s fantastic, and it certainly feels great.

Validation, or positive feedback, about your reading also serves another purpose - it’s a way your readee can give back to you and provide thanks and gratitude for the service you just provided, because in the beginning, and sometimes, not ever, the readee doesn't pay for their session in physical terms.

Regardless of whether a reading was paid or unpaid, feedback from your client, especially in the beginning, is an excellent way for the psychic to gain insight into their techniques to find out what works and what doesn't work.

For example, if you do a reading trying out a particular technique and get great feedback, you may decide to implement that practice a little bit more often if you knew clients enjoyed it.

Feedback can be great for so many reasons, but the truth is, you won't always get it, and especially not always the way you like it.

What happens when you don’t hear back from your readee at all after a session?

What if, during the session, you receive lots of emotional feedback or even shocking responses?

What if you receive praise?

Let’s talk about it -

3 Tips On Dealing With Commentary On Your Reading

In general there are three types of client responses to readings and the information they contain. Below I discuss -

1 - An Emotional Response

The Least Common. No matter what range of emotion you receive from your clients during or after your session, receiving any emotional feedback at all is a good thing.

Even if it has nothing to do with you, if you see tears, choking up or any emotional response - it means one thing and one thing only:

The message resonated. If you do get emotion after a reading, it shouldn’t be your goal, but it is a very good sign. And as you can see, you struck an emotional cord.

If someone is tearing up, words might not be so easy to share, so you may not get any more feedback that what you said mattered besides seeing this side of someone's vulnerability. And that's okay, because it is a pretty brave thing to do in front of a stranger.

2 - A Silent Response

Pretty Common. Often in sessions with clients, receiving accurate intuitive information is not only overwhelming - it’s spellbinding.

In my own sessions, when people read me, I am often listening so intently, under some magic spell of Universal Wisdom, it’s hard for me even to reply or think to validate. I’m mesmerized.

And I’m not the only one. An intuitive reading or energetic healing of any kind is powerfully moving to the soul. And if your soul has ever been moved, you know one thing for sure - it leaves you speechless.

So, if you don’t hear anything back during or after a session, it may be because the session left someone speechless, or, in the psychic world, we call this processing.

People need to process the information and getting hit with lots of intuition sometimes feels like a ton of bricks, so silent responses aren't always a bad thing.

I typically don’t reach out if I don’t hear back from someone just to allow a person this time to process and to be careful not to cross any client - practitioner boundaries.

3 - A Kind, Integrated Response

Semi-Rare. Most clients provide feedback while they are in an open link with you, nodding their head, validating as you speak, providing additional notes to compliment what you've already seen.

Pay attention to body language feedback, as much as verbal, because lots of client feedback is woven into and complementary to the reading itself.

Emotional, silent, or kind - receiving spoken words of feedback isn’t something that happens after every session.

People get overwhelmed, shocked, mesmerized or taken off with another task and forget to get back to you. Or maybe they don't think you need feedback and presume you are already good enough.

While some clients may leave the reading and go on ranting and raving about how fantastic you are, they may then completely forget to send you an email.

Or, maybe they think you already know you’re great and they don’t need to say so.

So, if you really want feedback and it warms your heart and soul just as much as it does mine, ask your clients upfront to provide you with feedback from your session, if they can.

You can put the request for feedback into a client survey, frame it to see how you’re doing to improve your sessions, or you can offer discounts and offers on future meetings for testimonials from previous clients you've enjoyed.

So to end, there are three types of feedback for readings that are very common: emotional, silent, and kind.

Getting A Negative Response?

Some days the stars truly are just not aligned (seriously) but if you are having trouble constantly dealing with negative feedback:

You may be interested in this article on client intake systems and energy clearing your website, or whichever intake route you have to you, because the energy of which can determine who it attracts and the types of interactions you have.

You may also be interested in just cutting your cords or raising your energy, knowing it is not always your responsibility how a person reacts to requested insight.

You can’t always change how someone responds to what you put out there, but you can change your energy in the way you process that response.

So in addition to changing your thoughts on feedback to looking at it more objectively, clearing your energy any time you finish meshing your energy with theirs - in any reading, healing or psychic exchange - also helps.
