Before I started practicing mediumship professionally, I started with learning and trusting myself with card readings. During that time, I became a big fan of working with cards.

Not only did I give myself readings every day, but I also offered card readings to friends and family members, for fun and also to practice asking questions, tuning in and receiving answers.

While working with cards has many benefits, it’s also a really nice and validation-filled way of practicing your intuitive abilities - as the answers to the questions you asked are often laid out before you in a card reading spread.

If you offer card readings professionally or simply practice card readings for yourself and others, there’s one thing for sure:

Card readings are an amazingly accurate way to get information.

There’s a reason cards are been a go-to source for information for centuries - they’re a way of physically seeing answers that are in alignment with our lives and what’s going on around us.

Time and time again, card readings provide answers make sense and are in alignment with your clients and yourself. They provide validating visual evidence of intuitive feelings, hunches and guesses that you and your clients already have within themselves.

Whether you are a fan of pulling a single card, enjoy a three card spread, or even the Celtic cross of the traditional Tarot card reading, there are a three common ingredients to getting accurate and beneficial information.

Centering Yourself

Before you shuffle the deck, it’s best to center, ground and find a comfortable and well seated place, spiritually, emotionally and physically to pull your cards. Connecting with your own Spirit to provide an accurate reading is key to connecting to the Universal source to receive accurate information.

Asking a Question

Whatever reading type you’re doing, many card readings involve asking one specific question or series of questions with unique and tailored wording choices to get the best answers from the cards.

Providing the Meaning first, and your Interpretation second

The cards themselves often include symbolic imagery, inherent meanings and personal interpretations.

To provide a great reading, knowledge of the symbolism and meanings of your cards and allowing both yourself and your client to interpret those meanings allows for the cards to apply to each person individually.

These three ingredients are actually very similar to the key ingredients in a mediumship reading. Preparing by centering, asking the right questions of Spirit and delivering the information that is seen, heard or felt exactly as it is received.

Only after the exact message is delivered, is that message open to interpretation by myself and the person I'm reading for.

In fact, while I started with cards, I simply got curious and took it one step further, asking in my head, “Who is this information coming from?” I figured since I was receiving answers from somewhere, perhaps this somewhere had a face, or a name.

Often, then, I would see images of people, hear names or feel that there was an individual who ‘gave’ this information. A Spirit Guide, an Angel or a Loved One.

As I progressed and moved through providing card readings, I started asking for specific Guides and Angels of mine and my clients, to provide the information through the cards. I just got curious, would the information be different if it came from this Guide versus this Angel?

And while the information and general message didn’t much change, the cards were slightly different.

Cards (Angel, Oracle and Tarot) are considered tools of mediumship. Which means they are visual and physical tools that you can use with Spirit to get information from Spirit, to share with the world around.

Mediumship is simply a way of delivering Universal and Divine information from a higher source to those on the physical plane and divination cards are simply a tool and conduit for the delivering of Divine, Universal and Source information.

To start integrating a dash of mediumship into your card readings

Start asking who the information is coming from

See if you can sense, see, know or hear any information. While your information comes from a higher source, why not see if you can narrow down who is speaking on behalf of all those in the Universal Source?

Invite in Guides and Angels to assist you with your readings

As you set the intention and prepare to open your deck for a card reading, simply invite in any Divine individual to share information through the cards. Choose a specific Guide or Angel, if you’ve already met yours. Or, begin to meet and work with your Guides and Angels this way.

Learn more about mediumship and connecting directly

Card readings are a way of connecting directly to Spirit and receiving answers in physical form right in front of your face.

But, you can also receive information from Spirit sans-cards - through clairaudience, clairvoyance, claircognizance and clairsentience. In fact, your Guides and Angels would like to start a one-on-one conversation with you whenever you’re ready!

They’ve already been laying down their best input through each and every one of your card decks.
