As a person, animal or pet goes to The Spirit World, the first question most people want to know is how soon we can expect them to visit and show us their energy. 

This usually happens after the Spirit crosses over into the afterlife.

Here’s what I shared recently on the topic with a family member:

It can take up as little as 7-10 days and up to 6 weeks, especially if there is grief, which creates a heavy cloud. Some people find it helpful to sit and meditate with one of the person in Spirit’s favorite things, like a crystal or a sweatshirt, to help vibrationally align with the energy of the Spirit with whom you want to connect. This also can temporarily clear the grief cloud, as doing so surrounds you in an aura of love.

Most Spirits are with their closest relative, usually a housemate or similar before this 6 week period, if not in their life review. Angels can whisk them away quickly for this.

Usually the first visitation you will notice is a dream visit or sensing their presence.

Having an individual transition to The Spirit World is not all that unlike having a tree transition from a living, standing organic being to a fallen organic being in the forest.

When a tree passes away, the immediate elements of its existence do not suddenly disappear. The trunk, the root system and the branches can generally still all be seen and experienced in the days, weeks and years following its passing. 

These remaining aspects of the tree often provide nutrients and energy to the surrounding forest for quite a long time after they are ‘dead.’ Thus, even trees that are perceived as dead on the surface do not immediately die.

Like a tree, even when a person or animal dies, and a clean-up service comes along and disperses the objects related to this being or being, objects may stick around for a while, as in the root system of a tree, which goes on to feed the surrounding forest for many years after decomposition begins.

Because there is usually not an immediate loss of evidence of the individual, at least in the physical world, when we are looking for signs of this being, what we are generally looking for are feelings of this being’s spirit. 

The feelings may be felt sometime after the 7-10 day crossing over window, after the strongest fog of grief has passed. 

Most people first notice a loved one’s presence after the soul has transitioned and fully crossed over into Heaven, the afterlife, the great oneness.

Transitioning to Heaven can be instant, however, according to Buddhist texts it can take up to 49 days. On average, though, it can happen within 1-6 weeks after the Spirit leaves Earth, usually after any final rites are performed.

The first signs of a spirit visitation usually include a sensation that the spirit is in and around your energy, which often feels quite peaceful and reassuring, a dream or a vision of this individual being with you. 

These visitations are usually fleeting, however, they often do feel good - so cherish them!
