The law of detachment is a universal spiritual principle, and you will see it in many faiths such as Jainism, Taoism, and Buddhism.

The law of detachment represents an element of spiritual mastery that can be achieved by separating yourself and your emotions from the outcome.

Here are just a few places where you'll find detachment mentioned:

  • Detachment is one of the principles of the Seventh Ray, also known as the Violet flame, which you see in Christ's consciousness philosophy.

  • Detachment is the sixth principle of Spiritual Success

  • The law of detachment is a mathematical law that allows two things to be correct at the same time

Spiritually, detachment is just that: allowing something else just to exist as pure, real, and good alongside you.

Does this sound like something that will give you peace?

Detachment is a beautiful spiritual philosophy that opens you up to more love than you have ever experienced because it takes your tunnel vision of things having to happen one way, and expands it into multiple possibilities.

Meaning when we practice detachment, life can explode with beauty and possibility because we allow it since we are no longer tied to the outcome of how it must be.

Detachment is the release of control, and it is one of the truest practices of surrender.

And because of that, I've found when you are first practicing detachment or stepping back into it after many years away, I've found it helps to have some tips for how to consciously separate from the outcome.

After you try some of the tips below, you'll find detachment becomes second nature, but to begin, here are a few of the steps I love for stepping into that state of openness.

Wondering how to gracefully step into the law of detachment?

4 Ways To Embrace The Spiritual Law Of Detachment In Your Life

#1. Recognize what you are attached to

Have you ever planned a future conversation? Envisioned a future outcome? When your mind is swirling with potentialities, this is a sign that you're connected to the result.

There is nothing wrong with spiritual planning in advance, because sometimes, I've found these internal conversations are a method the Divine speaks to us to let us know what is to come.

But before going to bed, identify what you're focusing on. This helps you know where attachment triggers still exist and knowing this will help you better release these doves of thought back to the universe.

Simply begin by just acknowledging several areas where you're still attached.

Because we are souls with hopes and dreams and some idea of our destiny, it will be natural for you to have at least two to three areas where your spirit is hooked in. Just identify them, don't judge them.

#2. Separate your energy from the focus of your attachments

Practicing the law of detachment expands your ability to love by releasing your love's focus on just a few areas to all areas. Detaching opens you up to all forms of love.

To do this, you will want to separate from the tunnels of expectation of where this must come, which will allow it to arrive.

The soul sometimes shows us our dreams and futures in the forms of archetypes, so it is possible that yes, what you see in your mind, will happen, but it may not occur in the exact metaphor used.

We often form attachments out of love and concern, so to free up your cache of concern, separate your energy from the outcome by simply assigning your attachment to an alternate guardian.

Visualize each outcome or person to whom you are attached and see them being sent their Angels.

I like to imagine each attachment I hold concern to, then going off out of my mind's eye with their Angels. This is a great activity before bed or at the beginning of a yoga practice, meditation, or bath. It really frees up your mental cache.

#3. Visualize the flame of love purifying the situation

To detach from a situation, you can also visualize yourself surrounded by purifying white or purple light and then imagine your attachment in the same light until it disappears back into the light.

This purifies any lingering or residual energy that this person, outcome, or situation to which you hold concern will resolve itself in any way less than love. Freeing up your energy to think more positively and engage in positive actions that may ultimately transform the situation.

#4. Pivot your attention to the current moment

Now that you've recognized where your attention was focused, delivered the situation eternal light and prayers, it's time to bring your attention to what can be done in the present moment and take action from this place.

When you act out of the present moment, life unfolds naturally, and all your focus is present to make positive changes that will affect all in your sphere, including those meant to satisfy your soul group or the potential destinies you are meant to fulfill.

Just because you see an outcome or you feel that it's possible detachment is really your guides, or the Universe sharing with you possibilities, doesn't mean that separating for what is intended to be and living in the moment can't be beneficial too.

So to recap, to practice the law of detachment

#1

Recognize what you are attached to

#2

Separate your energy from the focus of your attachments

#3

Visualize the flame of love purifying the situation

#4

Pivot your attention to the now

Detachment to the outcome and allowing freedom for other people’s behaviors is a moodset that gives you so much peace.

When you detach, you’re not worried about what other people are doing, and when this happens, so much mental space becomes available to fulfill your divine mission of happiness and love in life.
