Halloween Decor Idea // Skeleton Shadow Boxes

Every once and a while at this website, I try to get everyone who has contributed to this website together for a field trip and do something fun and also educational.

We go to an industry event, visit a museum, head out to a restaurant, gander around a shop, or go to a nature preserve, or all five. It really depends on the circumstances.

They help lighten the educational mood of the office and they help me get to know other cool artists in our field which I occasionally get so excited about I feature them on the blog.

This month we did art shows and so this is how I found Roadside Linen Arts at the latest Trenton New Jersey Punk Rock Flea Market. If you're not familiar with the Trenton Punk Rock Flea Market, it's kind of like The Oddities Flea Market, except a little more sweaty.

Yes, perhaps you could say it's a little more punk rock. Prepare to be hot, bumping into others, and to see some things that will surprise you. Also, prepare to eat great food - just like at The Oddities Flea Market, but just a little further down south river.

Roadside Linen Arts was at Trenton Show this year with a bunch of other amazing artists and I picked up a few of their new Calaveras Halloween Shadow Boxes because I was actually on the lookout for some fresh Halloween stuff that day and I was just squealing over these, I had to share them.

Here are a few photos of the new 2018 decorations Roadside Linen is putting out this year:

Karen of Roadside Linen creates mixed-media artistry typically reminiscent of old Halloween, and this year she has put out some fun new Halloween Calaveras Shadowboxes, I already bought three.

These are table sized, can be hung on walls, placed on desktops, and these are just the few I purchased (I hardly photographed all the ones she's because she's still making more). There are other designs besides this particular style of ancestral art, she also does old Americana Halloween, so whichever way your heritage flows in the Americas.

The Shadowbox on the left runs for about $36 USD and the one on the right at $32 USD.

I love them because these are just the types of reminders of The Spirit World we do need hanging around - the fun kind of reminders. It can be a heavy topic and many of us, especially those who read this blog, do heavy work so we need to lighten it up sometimes.

Which is what makes these boxes great everyday decorations for us regular spooky enthusiasts. For those who only like to show their colors for the next upcoming six weeks of the year, they also truly make great long-term pieces you can pass down.

While I still can't decide what I'm going to do (out as regular decorations year round or only for special occasions?), I will tell you that I have all of them out right now, and I don't think they'll be going away anytime soon.

To catch Roadside Linen Arts, and some of their newest creations, you still can at these upcoming events this Fall:
