If you’ve had a fascination with Spirits or are simply curious to know more about how the Spirit world works - the below list is a great primer on everything you need to know when it comes to Ghosts.

#1 A Ghost Is A Specific Type Of Spirit

A Ghost is a person who has died, who has not crossed over into the Light after death, becoming energetically and spiritually bound to Earth, giving them the alternate name of Earthbound Spirit.

Neither gaining energy from a human physical body or from the Divine Light, people who are Ghosts gain energy from their local environment, which may or may not include the living people within that environment.

#2 There Is A Timeline To Becoming A Ghost

A deceased person only becomes a Ghost in technical terms when they stay on Earth after the crossing over window has passed after death.

People generally have between 3-10 days to go into the Light after they die - and most do. The window often closes after their final rites ceremony has ended, if there is one, as their last call.

Not all people choose to stay on earth this long after their death, but some do, and those that stay after the window has closed, these people become linked here to earth indefinitely.

#3 Ghosts Can Hear You

Though often unseen due to their lack of a physical body, Ghosts live on Earth and are around us on a daily basis. Because of this, they can listen to conversations of the living.

Some Ghosts highly enjoy eavesdropping on others in this way, especially if it is something they wished they could have done while alive on Earth - but never had the opportunity. Now that they are invisible, they have all the opportunity in the world.

#4 Ghosts Can Be Helpful

Unfortunately, some television media has biased our perspective of Ghosts.

Many Ghosts who don’t make the news actually can be helpful. I have seen Ghosts walking women to their cars in late night parking lots, almost as safety escorts.

I have also seen Ghosts in vacant vacation homes in my area, seemingly keeping robbers at bay - by scaring anyone who comes near. I have also seen ghosts scream in the faces of children, to prevent them from running across the road and otherwise being in harm’s way.

And finally, I have seen Ghosts help husbands at grocery stores make sure they pick up the right ingredients for dinner.

They are not always causing problems, though the media would like to have you believe this.

#5 Ghosts Can Also Cause Hiccups

Some Ghosts actually do enjoy haunting.

Remember, Ghosts are people and some people, for reasons I can never understand, enjoy laughing at the expense of others. Misery loves company and when a dead person is miserable, they will do their best to make those around them miserable, as well.

With that said, I have seen Ghosts intentionally cause fights between two people.

I have seen Ghosts misplace items to cause stress, knock over a child’s water glass at a restaurant (getting the poor child in trouble) and I have even seen Ghosts push people.

It is these Ghosts that give all Ghosts a bad name. Thankfully you can usually set boundaries with these Spirits.

#6 Ghosts Enjoy Attention

Ghosts are mostly invisible.

They can gather energy in their surrounding space to create a visual appearance, yes - but this takes skill, practice and lots of intentional effort - which some Ghosts don’t care to make.

When they run into a person, a child or an animal who can see, sense or hear them - they get excited - wouldn’t you, if you were used to being largely ignored?

Because they get excited about being noticed, many will do whatever it takes to hold onto that attention - make noise, dance, start screaming, knock things off shelves or otherwise be more elaborate in their efforts to get you to notice.

You can let them know you sense them and this can sometimes quench the activity.

#7 Ghosts Can Interact With Other Ghosts

Ghosts who are attached to earth and not crossed over into the Light can see other people who are also not-crossed over, too. Ghosts can see other Ghosts, just like people can see other people.

Ghosts can choose to ignore each other, interact, be scared of each other, or develop friendships with other Ghosts.

Think about how people interact when they are alive - some people ignore others, some say hi to everyone, some are a busy body, and some people are downright scary.

In any event, Ghosts can interact with other Ghosts, and depending on each Ghost person and their preferences, this level of interaction and the way it goes down, will vary pretty widely.

#8 There Is Only Freedom In Ghost Land

Well-meaning Ghosts may be scared of others Ghosts and rightfully so - because they have no protection from the scarier bunch in any way.

Some Ghosts can even be convinced to cross-over, simply when you tell them they won’t have to live anymore in a lawless land where criminals can do whatever they want.

#9 Ghosts Can Come Through To Mediums

Most mediums believe they are and wish to connect with only those in Spirit who are crossed-over and in the Light.

Sadly, this doesn’t always happen.

But if your medium doesn't specify that this happens before their session, by setting an intention or specifically checking to see if the Spirits who come to their sessions are in the Light,  it is possible for Ghosts to show up, communicate and deliver messages.

This can be a potential problem, as only those who are crossed-over and in the Light can be guaranteed to be telling the truth and delivering messages of love.

While you may be communicating with a bonafide deceased person through a bonafide medium, it’s important that your medium is also doing the proper checks to make sure the Spirits they connect with are fully crossed-over.

#10 Some Ghosts Want To Cross Over

To help cross-over a Ghost into the Light, you generally have to talk them through it and convince them into believing why it’s about time and actually, a great idea.

Some Ghosts are more easily convinced than others.

And that’s that, now you know the 10 necessary facts about The Ghost World.
