When you develop any new system in your life, it takes time to wrap your mind around all aspects of it, and it's this same way with your gifts.

Every time you trust your intuition, your relationship with your gifts deepens, and from there, they expand.

At the start of opening your gifts is usually just the tip of the iceberg of how good it can feel to trust them, and typically only a hint at what you're capable of receiving, intuiting and knowing.

Every day, month and year you continue your spiritual path, your psychic abilities expand and deepen, and there are normally stopping and starting periods in between, to allow each deepening time for processing.

There are many reasons why spiritual gifts develop, and in turn, the expanding of psychic abilities takes time and is quite the journey, and lots of people have questions about it.

While the amount of time needed to develop psychic gifts varies, usually, at the start of every journey, some significant psychic insights initiate it. These are called hits.

These are exciting and liberating, and they do continue, but they also deepen and expand out over 7-8 year periods.

So, below, I discuss a few reasons why developing psychic abilities can take time, and patience is helpful on your journey as you expand.

7 Reasons Why Developing Your Psychic Abilities Takes Time

1. The brain needs time to process information

It takes time for your mind to integrate all the information you learn into your thought processes.

Developing your intuitive abilities isn't just about meditating, focusing, and seeing things in your mind's eye. In those meditations, in your third eye, there may be a lot of factual knowledge your brain needs time to absorb.

Integrating what you've learned is part of the soul growth journey, and it takes at least one night's sleep.

2. Physical life needs time to dovetail things together

When you develop your gifts, you are often confronted with new truths that usually come right up against old realities, and they go head to head.

Usually, the new, evolving truth wins.

But most people also need time to take what they have learned, compare it to what they already know to be accurate and see which fits better, cementing in the new pattern or realization that came before embarking on the next one.

This creates evolved, real growth and change, and you spiritually grow as you physically grow.

3. Your Soul Group need times to absorb what you've learned

Souls evolve in groups.

If the people in your life are going to jump on board with the new you, they need time to understand it, get to know it, and learn to admire this part and welcome it into their essence too.

When you develop, it's natural for you to want to share what you've learned on your journey with the people back home, and this sharing will often change the behaviors of those around you.

Having and finding people who want to go along with you on the next part of the soul journey your gifts guided you on is part of the fun, so you don't want to miss this part.

These people are called soul groups and they create a field of coherence around you.

Having a field of coherence around you allows your gifts to blossom more readily as you walk down the path.

4. Your logical side needs time to apply the wisdom

Computing and smoothing out the map takes space to think about.

After you've spent some time learning about energy healing, chakras, and auras - you need to figure out how you can apply it to real-life situations in the everyday human world.

Intuitive abilities aren't meant to stay in the classroom. They are intended to be applied tools you can use to benefit and enhance your time on earth.

Learning how to develop your clairaudient abilities, and then figuring out how to apply them to your life, takes some time and real-world experience with using it.

Usually, real-life experience with using your gifts, deepens your connection to them and develops faith, one of the most mystical yet necessary aspects of the psychic journey.

I often go over real-life applications of using the gift we are focusing on for our monthly class in The Membership, along with walk-throughs of how to use that month's focus gift in daily life.

5. Your soul needs time to observe how your gifts work best for you in this lifetime

Not all of your intuitive abilities are going to seamlessly weave into your current life. Some of them you'll use daily, and some you may only use once or twice.

For example, what if you are now sensing deceased people?

How is that going to fit into family gatherings? How are you going to manage it? Pass messages?

Just drinking a spiced cider at a gathering and you start feeling less scattered in only a few minutes? What is this gift, and what is it telling me?

How can I apply this ability here to make a better choice for me and all around?

As much as in class, we go over specific examples, there will be times when the model you get falls just outside of what was covered in the psychic practical. It's always funny when these situations fall right into your lap, and they will.

Here you stop, pause, breathe and become innovative, and you figure out how to make your gifts work in a way that's helpful for your field.

Finding out how you can make your gifts work for your life, deepens your connection to your gifts because now you know a specific application that can be woven right into your life.

6. Your joyous self needs to figure out what type of techniques you like the most

There are generalities of the intuitive field, you can read energy fields, you can tap into visions for others, you can connect to Spirit.

After this, there are specific techniques and tools you can use to better the world with psychic gifts, and you want to play with all the different kinds and see which you keep coming back to.

The more drawn you are to a specific technique, the more likely you are to hone it and master it, deepening your practice.

What style of instrument, what field, and what tone works for you?

In the field of psychics, there are many specializations.

You will want to take some time looking at each and seeing which one you like the most now and know it may change later, deepening another side of your gifts.

7. You'll likely teach others as you go

When you train someone, it takes twice, maybe four times as long. You are forced to go through a process more slowly than you do for everyday life, causing you to notice nuances more.

As you teach, you also learn, and you'll likely learn more about what you know, as well as what you don't.

When you teach, you are always teaching members of your soul group, meaning it can provide positive feedback, which only amplifies your gift. So teaching can be helpful.

But it takes time to plan apprenticeships and classes, and allow them to unfold.

There are benefits to developing your gifts

When you develop your intuitive abilities, you're improving your own life, because you are trusting yourself more.

By doing this, you'll naturally improve the lives of others around you, by just being happier and more attuned with who you are and into the environment and community around you.

This is how intuition helps us, it's like a rudder for our ship.

So, how long does it really take to develop psychic abilities?

Crafting and perfecting that ship takes time, some would say a lifetime.

Though I'd say that for every month you practice your intuition, it deepens, and you can expect to see noticeable changes and growth every 2-3 years for as long as you continue, most people seeing significant changes after around 7 years.

Unfolding your gifts is worth the journey, so I encourage you to continue if you're learning now.

As much as it is essential to provide realistic expectations, we all know our own pace and what's right - so you may be really excited right now to learn more, and zooming straight ahead, hitting marks every day.

Or you are maybe more in the observation and integration or teaching phases.
