What Is Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP)?

If you have ever seen a ghost-paranormal-spirit investigative type television show, you’re familiar with Electronic Voice Phenomena.
It’s so often implemented as a physical tool to communicate with Spirit.
Electronic voice phenomena (EVP) occurs when presumed ‘spirit voices’ are caught on an electronic audio recording device of any kind.
Within ghost hunting and parapsychology groups, EVP are sounds found on electronic recordings, interpreted as spirit voices, that have been either unintentionally recorded or intentionally requested and recorded.
Parapsychologist Konstantīns Raudive popularized the idea of attempting to record spirit communication with an audio recording device in the 1960s and 70s, and he described EVP as typically a brief communication - usually the length of one word or less, or short phrase.
American photographer Attila von Szalay, actually, was among the first to try recording what he believed to be voices of the Spirit as a way to help in his already active investigations in photographing ghosts.
He began his attempts in 1941, but it wasn't until 1956, after switching to a reel-to-reel tape recorder.
In current day, EVP is most commonly used as a tool for spirit investigations, by humans who want to prove or deny with tangible evidence the existence of a spiritual being in the space.
In many investigations, the investigator will ask questions out loud to the Spirit presumed to be present with the audio recording device rolling.
After the investigation, the recording tape is reviewed for audio feedback or voices, EVP, not belonging to the investigator. This unaccounted for sound is often considered evidence of a spirit’s voice.
Generally, in an investigation, a human person attempts to record the sound of ‘spirit voices,’ thought to be audible when captured by specialized electronic recording devices, yet remain inaudible to most human ears.
The idea here is that electronic devices specializing in various sound wave capturing can pick up a larger range of sound frequencies, including the higher or lower frequencies that some Spirits may use to communicate, that are not normally audible to the regular human ear.
An Electronic Voice Phenomenon is not the only way to hear the sound of spirit voices trying to communicate with you, though.
Spirit Voices can be heard by regular human ears when those ears are naturally more (or trained to become more) sensitive to a larger range of frequencies and tonalities.
Spirits can speak and say your name, they can make noises by moving objects such as doors, cabinets or trinkets, and they can also alter wind flow and pattern to create an audible sound - all which can be audible externally.
Many ‘non-spiritual’ people have heard the unexplainable ‘bumps’ or ‘knocks’ that come from those in Spirit trying to connect with you in the best way they know how. This is technically a Spirit voice, as well.
Many times, to hear those in Spirit - all you have to do is pay attention and listen, either on electronic device or with the intuitive gifts, to hear The Spirit World.
