Handling Spirits Who Can’t Seem To Get The Words Out Right

Updated 2022.06.07

The most common Spirit at your reading is the one who hasn’t been able to communicate clearly with you.

In the case of a Deceased Loved One, this is the person who couldn’t, didn’t or wasn’t able to say what they needed to say, when they needed to say it while on the physical Earth.

They’re also the people you may be angry with, because they lacked communication skills and built emotional barriers when they were alive.

Poor communicators are common suspects at a mediumship reading, and they come to readings to finally communicate in a way they were unable to do while alive.

Spirits who have a hard time with communication at a reading are people who

  • Didn’t know how to say what they felt while alive

  • Weren’t able to speak to you directly while on Earth

  • Had a hard time verbalizing their genuine, honest thoughts

  • Had a difficult time showing love and affection while on Earth

  • Didn’t have the courage to say “I’m sorry” while on Earth

  • Didn’t have the ability to be free from their own fears and constraints, and put into words the messages they really meant to say, when they had the time.

These individuals are usually the deceased.

They are your parents, your friends from college, or your neighbors who were restricted in themselves or restricted by others from speaking the words of truth that they have been waiting to speak for a very long time.

Poor communicators are those who have been unable to express their needs, wants and true feelings and thoughts up until this moment.

Poor communicators are often alive and well in Spirit and are coming in droves to mediumship readings - for obvious reasons - they need to say something they have not said before.

Just because people are in spirit, doesn’t mean they suddenly know how to get the words out

If your medium is struggling getting the messages from your Loved One, consider for a moment that it is not your medium having the problem delivering the information, but rather, that it is your Loved One, having a problem getting the message out.

We try our best to deliver to you the clearest, most accurate and interpretation-free messages from your Loved Ones at all times - every time. They give us images, words, thoughts and emotions to describe what they are trying to say and how they feel about it.

But if they, themselves can’t get it out and have never taken the time to learn before now -  the medium, without a transfer of a message from your Loved One, has nothing to deliver.

That’s when we have to back up. Sit down. Take a deep breath.

And start coaching your Loved Ones through it.

We have to take a step back from delivering to you and a step inward, to teaching your Loved One how to deliver their message to us.

A Medium usually doubles as a Communication Coach for the dead

There have been countless times in readings, where I ask my client to hang on one moment, while I talk my very tongue-tied Spirit off a ledge of fear and into a place where he can get his words out - once and for all.

If your Loved One has had the problem of saying how he really feels his whole life - in my opinion - this is a challenge we work through together - and it ends today.

As a medium, you are the expert translator, meeting facilitator, relationship mending negotiator.

And sometimes, it is your responsibility to make sure your Spirit feels safe enough, calm enough and comfortable enough to finally - once and for all - say what they want to say.

As a medium, consider for a moment that your abilities are not the problem.

As a client, consider for a moment that your medium is not the problem.

And as a Loved One, consider for a moment, that you have the ability to do this.

You came ready to speak, so take a deep breath and speak.

Rather than being frustrated at your ‘oh my, I feel like I am pulling teeth reading,’ take a moment, have a little compassion for what this must be like for them - and then, when your Spirit-speaker feels ready - you and they can walk hand and hand, back to the reading together.

Usually I find that when you breathe, ask the Spirit to show you another way, the message can come another way, from symbols or even feelings, sensations. I also find that writing down your Spirit Speaker message as you deliver it helps streamline the flow of information.
