How Does A Medium See Spirits?

When explaining my ability to see, hear, feel and work with those in Spirit, the most common and usually the first question people ask me is this one.
And the answer is:
Yes, I actually see them!
Not all the time, everywhere, or all around - I’ve learned how to tone it down and tune those in Spirit out when necessary, like while running around doing errands and living a regular life. But yes, I do see those in Spirit.
Most of the time, when preparing for a reading or a session, your loved ones on The Other Side arrive early - to wait for you. In their excitement, they don’t want to be late, so they find me and we get ready for your session together.

Generally, the process is that I can feel the presence of Spirit first, and then I see them second.
For me, when a Spirit is present, this feels like I’m climbing up a giant hill on a roller coaster - my heart starts beating fast and my stomach begins to drop.
Before I knew what this was - the presence of a Spirit - I thought I just was prone to weak nerves and hysteria. If you have the ability to sense those in Spirit, you may feel a heaviness in the room, or a coolness to the air, too.
Spirit can change the energy flux of an area. So I now know it’s normal, especially if you are clairsentient, to sense these changes.
Spirit energy can be either fast moving or slow moving depending on the type of density we’re dealing with (read more about changes that happen when Spirit is present here).
Next, I ask for the Spirit who is present to appear to me.
Sometimes, they appear in front of me, next to me, right behind me, sitting on my living room couch, standing at the bottom of the stairs, in the kitchen near the stove - basically wherever I am and going to be looking, that’s where they show up.
At this time, I can see most of the features of the Spirit and their appearance. And generally, they look exactly as they did when they were alive, though they do get to choose the age in which they appear… who wouldn’t?
Spirits, look to me, exactly like people, but without bodies. They are translucent in color, sometimes appearing in a whitish wispy hue, or other times, appearing in color - just see-through.
Translucent. Since there is no density of the physical body, they are pulling all of their energy together to appear in person, as they appeared when they were alive.
Most of the time, I see them with my physical eyes - and the translucence varies. In some cases they are 95% translucent - barely visible and you have to try hard to see them.
Other times, only 5% translucent, looking very dense and barely see through at all.
While I still am unsure why the translucence varies, I believe it’s a mixture of how closely they are still tied to the physical earth (more connected to earth, more ‘earthly’ looking, less connected, more ‘spirity’ looking).
I also think it has to do with their skill level at being able to appear and the amount of energy they have to appear - it takes a lot of skill and energy to appear as a human in physical form without an actual physical body to work with.
This way of seeing a Spirit, is called an apparition, and there are times when I do not see those with my physical eyes on many occasions, I will close my eyes and see those in Spirit in my mind’s eye.
Similar to the way you would see a memory or an imagination, I can also see Spirits this way.
This technique, rather than using all types of external energy to appear as an apparition, those in Spirit are able to use my energy, the energy of my brain power and thought energy, to appear to me.
It’s way easier, and since I am with a physical body and on earth, I can draw on food, water, and heat, to gain more energy for myself.
In other words, I can gather more energy more easily and quickly than those in Spirit, so I offer my energy to your loved ones in sessions so that they can show me themselves, images, and deliver messages, with less work and strain on their part.
While this is draining for me, and during a session I can become very hot and thirsty from the energy use, I believe it provides for a clear more focused message - if both myself and your loved ones in Spirit are able to energetically ‘be’ in the same place, at the same time.
While these are not the only ways a medium will see those in Spirit, this is how it happens for me, most of the time.
Spirits also appear as a shadow form, as a flash of light, or as a clear, denser version of air.
