In November 1824, Sidney Hall, a British Cartographer released Urania's Mirror; or, A View of the Heavens.

This was a set of 32 astronomical star cards. The cover of the box-set showed a depiction of Urania, the muse of astronomy, and it came with a book entitled A Familiar Treatise on Astronomy, written as an accompaniment, which would now be called a guidebook.

These were some of the first star cards available and now there are many more to choose from.

So, Tarot or Oracle, what do you choose?

Tarot is devised on a set system of reading cards and interpretation, and all decks of Tarot are bound by this general system, making these decks great tools for those who already know and have learned the system or would like to.

Oracle Cards, however, are much more flexible in their system stylings.

Each Oracle Card Deck has their own style of reading option available, your choice or you can choose the styles offered to you by the author of the deck, making them great for learning new styles and methods of interpretation.

I consider each a little class on that person's divination method, providing me with a richer and deeper understanding of my own.

But besides which you choose, according to world divination theory, there are two methods of divination, intangible and tangible, known as ecstatic or inductive.

One is thought of as being used primarily for the viewer, and the other thought of as being used primarily for the self, both, however, can be used together and this is where cards come in, as many readers draw upon both, to provide their final product.

So whichever you prefer, here are a few of the new moon ones that have been released a bit more recently -

Anytime is a great time for stargazing, either with your head looking up or looking down onto your reading table.

People have been divining using the solar system for thousands of years, and if you're just learning this system, as much as it can be intuitive, there is a logic and order to it that even the most esoteric of us appreciate.
