The Best Bokeh Lens For Spiritual Photography

Updated 2021.01.14 and just as an FYI, this post includes affiliate links.

Do you like looking at images that have a crisp image upfront but then a fuzzy, soft focus background? Do you like the look of mist in images, even when there isn’t any?

Need a great low light lens that can take in a lot of light in a long exposure and still produce a crisp image?

For taking photographs in twilight or dawn, for making images look magical, and to give it an ethereal feel, I have a favorite lens I use.

And today I want to share that lens with you.

Bokeh refers to an aesthetic quality of a photograph that is an out of focus area, often rendered as the bright circles and specular highlights you see in the background of a photograph's subject. It's the light that gives photos a sort of magical feel.

For stunning bokeh light in any shot, getting a 50mm 1/4 lens is the best.

Doubling as a lens great for low light photography, this lens gives you that beautiful fuzzy soft light, providing the perfect bokeh glow of your dreams, producing the kind of magic you want to imbue into artsy lifestyle shots.

It gives the photo a feeling of awe and transforms any environment into a magical space. And I can't say enough about it.

If you're a blogger like I am, then you already know pictures are king and queen, they create the mood for your site.

Pictures transform the image of what you do and can help bridge the gap between word and understanding. They activate the thinking mind.

So I've switched completely over to working with a new lens for all photos I want to have a glow look to then.

Let's take a look:

The iPhone 6 photos vs. the Nikon 50mm 1.4D (the Bokeh Lens) photos

Check out that glow . . . on all the photos on the right.

That's what I'm talking about.

On the photos above, make note of the fuzzy, glowiness in the background of the photos on the right versus those on the left. That's the beauty and the difference of Bokeh.

I take this lens everywhere I go and if you haven't got it already, I suggest. It really amps up the mysticalness of all your shots and even after having it now for four years, I still love this lens.

To recap, to get these shots, and all my other favorites (see my Instagram for the most recent) I use:

My favorite feature of using both together is the remote shot feature.

The D5300 hooks up to your phone via WIFI and with a Nikon App, you can set your camera down and take remote shots. So it's perfect for having both solitary moments in the woods and taking selfies with style, and making them all beautiful.

Enjoy . . . and happy magic land photography.
