The mineral Silica is one of the best natural semi-conductors of energy on Earth; thus, it can be a high transmitter and booster of energy.
Silica, in the world of crystals, is known as Quartz.
Quartz is an energy amplifier.
It facilitates the transfer of one form of energy into another.
It can also convert surrounding mechanical forces of energy into an electrical signal, also known as information.
Quartz variety minerals are some of the best crystals for a psychic medium to own for these reasons:
Quartz increases the energy around its structure
Quartz transfers energy from itself to surrounding and connected structures
It transmutes that energy into a signal form that is understood by its receiver (in this case, the medium)
These qualities help you, and those in the non-physical energy realms communicate their messages more clearly to you.

As are all quartz forms, but here are a few of my favorite varieties. Good Quartz (Si02) based stones for spirit communication are:
Rose Quartz - energy amplification, transference and compassion for others
Amethyst - energy amplification, transference, specifically when related to the self, generally thought to amplify and open intuitive gifts
Tiger's Eye - energy amplification and grounding, specifically calming and clearing yourself in stronger energetic states
All Agates - energy amplification and rooting, specifically for maintaining your center in high energy fields
After integrating Quartz's energy amplification, the next thing that most psychic mediums need is to ground out that energy to be translated into means here on Earth.
A conduit of energy, a medium, needs the ability to take that high energy information transferred and received around them, and channel it down through their body, in a clear, centered, and flowing way.
This is where grounding stones come into play -
Grounding Stones
Mediums also need grounding stones that also conduct energy.
These are called conductors. Conductors are materials that obey Ohm's law and have a very low resistance to receiving energy.
They can carry electric currents from place to place without dissipating a lot of power.

It is known to metaphysically provide protection, grounding, and stimulating the upper chakras, also known as the mind.

It is also known to stimulate learning and absorption of information to those working in the complex sciences fields.
And it is also known to be the perfect stone to help mediums channel high vibrational energy down through their body in a fluid, seamless way.
Hematite is the companion crystal to pure, clear Quartz and a great stone for all mediums to own.
