The 3 Assumptions You Might Make When Meeting A Psychic Medium

Updated 2022.04.05

Chances are, you’ve already met a psychic medium in public.

Stereotypes have affected the psychic mediumship community, though some of them are fun, and we embrace them.

Others are less fun, create unnecessary fear in the community, and some have been harmful to the freedom and health of those affected by them.

Today, many of the stereotypes about prophecy seers are getting lifted.

Thanks mainly to the internet, and the ability of mediums to share our stories on a global scale. And the many compassionate people who can feel the truth and advocate for justice and equality.

For a large part of my childhood, before the internet, talking about mediumship in schools or around others would submit you to evaluation, separate you from the other students, and largely isolate you.

So, my family asked me to not speak about it when I was a kid.

As an adult, I slowly did, and this blog took off, changing the direction of my life entirely.

I never expected the results I received, millions of readers a year. Honestly, when I started it, I hoped that if I could help one person heal and know they weren't alone, I'd made a difference.

For all this, I am grateful, and today I've updated this post to share some of the most common misconceptions about psychic mediums.

Mainly to promote equality, and if you're reading this and still in the dark about your gifts, I want you to know there are people like us out there. We're here.

This post below is my gift to you. To the internet at large, thank you for continuing to share my work and, in turn, providing emotional freedom to those who are still suffering.

If you're reading this, and have intuitive abilities, you have a gift. And you deserve the support and respect to share it with the world.

Meeting a psychic medium is something you’ve probably already done.

Yet, still today, occasionally when someone finds out what I do for a living, they exclaim, “I’ve never met someone like you before!"

They may try to walk away slowly, they may spit out their drink, or they may corner me for an hour to ask me a thousand questions. That last one is my favorite.

When people meet me and find out what I do for a living, they also may make three main assumptions given to them by a past society that affect our interaction. So I’d like to clear a few of those up.

The 3 Assumptions You Might Make When Meeting A Psychic Medium

1. We’re reading you

We’re likely off duty from reading.

One of the first things I teach all new mediums is how to turn down their abilities. This way, they aren’t unintentionally violating anyone’s privacy, and so their sensitivities have some rest.

Off-hours are something I recommend that all intuitives have, and these off-hours can simply mean a time when all your feelers aren't out there in the world scanning for whatever.

Most new psychics, mediums, and intuitives want to know -

How can I be more respectful of people’s privacy and not know things without permission to know them?

Consider connecting with Spirit and connecting with your Spirit a very sacred, vulnerable thing. When I’m out in public, I’m usually off duty, mainly out of respect for the privacy of others and just for my own rest.

You are usually safe with your secrets around a mystical person. Because often, we carry a lot of them for others, so we often prefer to release them on time off.

If I ask you what you do for a living, I’m not a wrong medium or a lousy psychic, I’m just talking to know you in the way you want me to.

2. We know all about your past and future… even when you’ll die

We may have to tune into seeing Spirits and energy around you.

There is a particular type of clairvoyance that's taught in Celtic shamanism, where you have to open your sight to see The Spirit World. It's best done in an open field, or best of all, in a clearing in the woods.

I also think you can sometimes do it when looking over a vista.

Opening to Spirit Sight is either an external process of expanding your vision outward in the safety of nature or an inward funneling process to channel your energy inward.

Seeing Spirits since childhood, though I’ve become pretty good at shutting it down, learning how to block out and ignore those in Spirit, especially when in public, when it's too much.

So a lot of times, I do it automatically when I enter a building. Many mediums put on their spirit blinders in public, to manage the energy input.

3. This is everything we do

We have other hobbies and interests, which are needed for balance.

Most psychic mediums, including myself, had another career before devoting their time to intuitive pursuits. They also often follow the 80/20 principle, where this 20% of who they are is their gift to the world.

Before I started this blog, I was really into, and I now have two traditional college and advanced degrees in environmental and wetland conservation.

I’m into nails and fragrances, enjoy gardening and also drinking tea.

If you have questions about Angels, a visitation dream, or want to share information on the shadows you saw last week, I also want to talk about that.

It's my interest too, but there are other interests we have, some are good at math or strategy, some analyze data, and are interested in discussing these topics also.

So that's it - most mediums wish for having off time from taking in too much information, they may need to tune to connect to your Spirits, and they have other hobbies and maybe even another career, usually outside of this field.

Your secrets are often safe around a clairvoyant or psychic, and more sheltered than you think.

Most psychics can be pretty calming and uplifting people, more than they are chasing you down to share your prophecy.
