The Tarot is divided into two main groups; the Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana. The Moon Tarot Card is part of the Major Arcana in the standard Tarot.

The Major Arcana is a set of 22 cards inside the 78 card Tarot deck that begins with Card 0: The Fool and ends with Card 21: The World.

It is often thought that cards within the Major Arcana portray major life events and lessons, whereas the Minor Arcana is more about the day to day details of living.

The Moon, Card 18, is wedged in between Card 17: The Star and Card 19: The Sun, which come after Card 15: The Devil and Card 16: The Tower.

Because The Moon is part of a group of three celestial bodies set after several cards that represent chaos and destruction, I often see The Moon as a redemption card, like the sunny day that comes after a storm.

It can also represent the dawning of a new, more spiritual phase of a relationship.

The Moon card is the silvery path of illusion where everything shifts and flows.

When it shows up in a reading, it symbolizes time to accept that you are part of the tides of the Universe, as you even have them within you. It also symbolizes a time for embracing psychic energy and the hidden mystery in all that is.
