The Best Boar Bristle Hair Brushes // Thoughts On Morrocco Method Brushes
One of my favorite things to do in the evenings when I’m winding down is to brush out my hair.
This became part of my bedtime routine a couple of years ago when I discovered that frequent hair brushing stimulates the scalp and encourages hair growth. A couple of years ago, I went on a journey where I was growing my hair out from colored hair to my natural hair.
I’ve colored my hair since I was thirteen years old, and thoroughly enjoyed it the entire time; however, one day a few winters ago, I got the wild idea in my heart that I wanted to rediscover my natural hair color, and so I set out on that adventure to figure it out.
At the time my hair was platinum blonde, and the whole process of growing out my platinum blonde hair to my natural hair took a little over two years.
During that process, I had a lot of time to spare, so I experimented with many different hair care techniques - oiling my hair, mud masking my hair, cutting my own hair, hennaing my hair, ways to curl my hair, and perhaps most importantly, different ways and different tools to brush my hair with.
This is how I discovered the Morrocco Method.
I first read about the brand on Wellness Mama, and ever since then, I’ve tried just about all of their products and taken many of their recommendations. It's worked because now on the street, people will shout out to me that they love my hair.
I love all their products; every shampoo, the leave-in conditioning mists, the detoxing products and perhaps my favorite of all: their brushes.
I just started an affiliate relationship with them and could not be more excited, because I genuinely already had many of the products they carried and recommended many of their tools to others.
While Morrocco Method sells many things, one of the items I love the most are their brushes. These are boar bristle brushes designed to evenly distribute the oils on your scalp to the roots of your hair, meaning that over time, you need fewer hair products, particularly of the conditioning type and not only that, I’ve found that these brushes actually feel good to use.
It's safe the say the brushes are an experience because they do actually stimulate the scalp as you use them.
Because of the length of the bristles, they massage the scalp, and because of the technique of hair brushing the brand encourages, very similar to the Rapunzel method of 100 strokes a day, using Morrocco Method’s hair brushes is a bit of a therapeutic experience.
Overall, the brand sells two main types of brushes, in two sizes -
Here’s a photo of the two different sizes, side by side:
I keep the full size in my bathroom (on the left) and the smaller travel size (on the right) in my makeup case.
The Pure Boar Bristle brushes create more shine and distribute the oils of the scalp throughout the hair more efficiently.
The Mixed Nylon - Boar Bristle brush (pictured below) gets through tangles more efficiently and also get through to the scalp, giving you a little bit more of a head massage as you brush, and they tend to be designed for thicker hair. I have a mixed type for my partner and have tried it for myself too and love it.

In general, the two brush types, Pure Boar and Boar Bristle Nylon Mixed are designed for two different hair types. One is more for fine hair; the other is more for thick hair.
Because I have fine hair but a lot of it, I have tried both the pure boar bristle brushes and the mixed nylon brushes, and I like them both, it really just depends which you are looking for.
If you have…
Full, thick, or coarse hair and like a scalp massage, go with the Mixed Nylon Boar Bristle Brush. I’ve found the Mixed Nylon brush reaches the scalp more easily.
Thin hair, want shine or desire more body, go with the Pure Boar Bristle Brush.
If you are on a budget and need to get the small one, it works just fine for longer hair, and will only take a few more strokes to cover your whole scalp, which isn't necessarily a bad thing because the brushes themselves are like a scalp massage to use.
And if you want to enjoy your hair brushing experience, find it a relaxing part of your day, or you're looking to beautify your hair to its maximum potential, I'd give these brushes a try.
