New Release // Morrocco Method Shampoo Bar Review
When I was in college, I went backpacking for ten days with a small group of students from the rec center. I wasn’t supposed to really bring any soap, because all of it would either pollute the environment or be too heavy for my backpack. At least that’s what the guide said.
But, I’m a rebel and I snuck in a bar of soap in any way. Then, every time the troop settled down at a campsite, I would flee off to the nearest stream and rinse myself off in that cold, mountain water working up a lather with that one bar of soap I brought, hoping I wouldn't get caught.
It was around this time I learned how little soap I really needed and how much joy I found in working something ‘up into a lather.’
This one hiking trip then spun me into a ten-year process of finding the most, the best and easiest to use eco-friendly soaps. I now have a favorite series of dish soaps, a favorite series of hand soaps, a favorite toothpaste, and a favorite set of shampoos.
So in this process, I first discovered the Morrocco Method two years ago, when I was detoxing my hair routine. I wanted an eco-friendly shampoo that created an excellent outcome, and I also wanted it to be affordable. Until now, I’ve tried just about everything in their line. Morrocco Method shampoos are concentrates, and they really do fit all these categories unless you like a sudsy shampoo.
None of the shampoos in the Morrocco Method line created foaming bubbles. Until now.
They just launched a brand new Shampoo Bar and boy, is it a treat.
It doesn’t contain any parabens, sulfates or any neurotoxins, meaning you can use it outside on a backpacking trip or at a house that’s connected to the rest of the water system, whether city water or septic.
I’ve been trying it out for the past month after being sent a sample from the company. Having tried all their other shampoos, I’m going to have to say hands down it’s now my favorite of their entire line-up. It’s portable and it’s sudsy. This is different than their entire line because this brand’s shampoos typically do not create any bubbles, but not anymore.
For a photo of the Shampoo Bar with some suds, see below:
This Shampoo Bar bubbles up, is eco-friendly and produces incredible volume and body in the hair.
Before using this Shampoo Bar, I had taken a break from the Morrocco Method Shampoos in general and was using Free & Clear Shampoo (available on Amazon). I knew I was going to try another experiment and I wanted my hair not to be influenced by any additives before starting my next adventure. So within one use of this new bar, I was really able to see a difference. I noticed my hair felt fuller, more voluminous and had a little bit of more hold all on its own.
So my review is that I like it.
It’s affordable, it gets sudsy, it smells nice.
This brand makes concentrates that typically are suds-free. So if you've tried Morrocco Method in the past and went back to other shampoos because you missed the bubbles, I would say give this Shampoo Bar a try.
And if you’re new to the Morrocco Method Hair Care line, I would say try this Shampoo Bar with one of the leave-in conditioners, and you’ll be even happier. The current leave-in conditioner I’m using from this company is the Sapphire Volumizer Mist Conditioner & Moisturizer (click here to buy). You don't need much more than that.
One thing: The ingredients do leave a bit of residue on the hair, which is like a leave-in product, and I’ve actually liked this because I use post-shampoo styling products less, too. The only thing I’d say is that if you use Morrocco Method boar bristle brushes, the residue from this shampoo bar does show up as white on the brushes.
How long does it last?
With 1-2 people using this shampoo bar, plus a few guests, it will last approximately 3-4 weeks.
All in all, the new Shampoo Bar has got to be my favorite shampoo this company offers. Mostly I love that it forms bubbles and it provides a beautiful texture to the hair. It’s a nice plug and play product, it comes with a cardboard box you can carry it in if you have to travel with it and it smells nice.
