There are so many different brands of CBD tinctures out there, and I've spent the past year researching my favorites. Today I want to share one of these brands with you.
The world is looking up for CBD users.
CBD, an abbreviation for cannabidiol, has anti-inflammatory and anti-anxiety properties without the psychoactive effects of THC, so it is now becoming popularized in natural health support.
Recent research published by the scientists of the University of Mississippi has found that CBD could be beneficial in treating the opioid crisis.
And in a paper published by Dr. Thomas M. Clark at Indiana University, an analysis predicted that an estimated 23,500 -47,500 deaths would be prevented annually if medical marijuana were legal nationwide.
With these new nods of approval happening in the mainstream organizations, it would appear the world is looking up for those who want to work CBD into their health and wellness routine.
These benefits are why I wanted to start talking more about this wonderful healing plant.
As with all natural health supplements, not all things work for all people, but you have to try it to see if it will work for you.
Given all the options for CBD out there and its relative risk-free nature, I wanted to share with you today one brand that I've found to be quite potent and monetary-wise, a bang for your buck.
For the past year or so, I've been testing different formulas of CBD to see what works, what's high quality, and what will live up to my nerdy plant testing standards.
And this search has lead me to find NuLeaf Naturals.
NuLeaf Naturals is an organic hemp company out of Denver, Colorado.
They're committed to providing the industry with the highest grade and purest CBD formulas available.
As someone with a background in botany, environmental science, and plant chemistry, I have to admit it was the nerd in me that drew me in via these ideals.
Cannabis sativa, like all hemp species, are known bio-accumulators.
Meaning they will accumulate heavy metals, toxins, and pollutants from the soils and the waters of the ecosystem, and put them into their plant bodies.
This is why you have to be careful of where you source any plant material from this Genus, especially if you plan to ingest it. With the growing boom in hemp and Cannabis production, some are using reclaimed lands to grow, and you have to be vigilant.
important factors when selecting a cbd to use
Just like the symbolic lotus, you have to be careful when it comes to choosing your Cannabis source, pay attention to:
Where it's grown
How it's grown
The chemical profile of the soil
The water source
What techniques are used to extract the oil
As all of this will matter when it comes to purity and effectiveness of the CBD you choose, as well as reducing your own toxic load. Since CBD is a health product, you do want to make sure you aren't adding more toxins to your body when you take it.
With NuLeaf Naturals, their formula is:
Made of 100% pure hemp oil, no additives.
Sourced from all licensed organic farms in their local area (Denver, CO), for a farm to be considered organic, the soil must be confirmed organic, too.
Watered with pristine, Rocky Mountain water. For the water quality nerds out there - Colorado has some of the strictest water quality laws in the nation.
Passing all my preliminary nerd tests so far - pure formula, no additives, organic growing conditions, clean water source.
a word on their extraction methods
NuLeaf is full-spectrum hemp oil, meaning it contains a full-range of hemp phytonutrients.
NuLeaf Naturals uses the CO(2) extraction method to get the full range of nutrients out of the leaves and plant parts. CO(2) extraction is the current gold standard in hemp extraction methods.
The company also uses a low and high-temperature process which extracts a complete range of the healing benefits of the plant.
does NuLeaf contain THC?
Some CBD brands are not full-spectrum, and instead, they represent an isolate. Meaning the chemical process takes out just that molecule and isolates it from the rest of the plant.
Depending on who you ask, some people think it’s better to include all trace elements of the plant and others think an isolate is better. In my opinion, a perk of full-spectrum hemp oil is that it usually contains additional nutritional benefits.
NuLeaf is full-spectrum hemp oil, so yes, NuLeaf’s formula does contain trace amounts of THC (less than 0.03%) along with many other phyto-compounds. These amounts are considered non-detectable.
clarity and taste thoughts
Now, onto the taste and clarity test -
If you've ever used hemp oil for cooking, basically, it tastes very similar to that. A little heavier than olive oil in taste, but a little lighter in viscosity than the hemp oil you use on your salads.
NuLeaf's CBD oil is a deep, olive green color, and the fluid itself is quite clear. It doesn't have milky consistency like some brands.
It's effortless to take down.
I've also sampled this brand out to friends, who have approved of both the taste and the effectiveness - especially for insomnia.
When I was testing this brand out for the blog, people were telling me they liked to use it for that when I asked how they liked it or used the samples I gave them.
Whenever I do a blog on a natural health item, I try to test it out on family and friends and gain their feedback before reporting back to you. To make sure that what I'm saying resonates with a group and not just with me, and that's what I did here, too.
Overall, I think it's a great formula made with good intentions and one I carry in my home and provide to others when needed. We use it for all types of things.
So are they a trustworthy brand?
From my experience, yes.
Their customer service is also impeccable.
They've also been known to send out free bottles for positive reviews, get back to you within a day, and are very generous with research sharing.
It's clear from my interactions with NuLeaf they are fellow excitable nerds, and I like that about the company. You could feel the nerd enthusiasm emanating from the staff there, and I loved it. We have shared many an email -
I also love their shipping, it’s lightning fast and I’ve gotten my bottles within the week of ordering.
Do they have a quality formula?
Given their extraction methods, growing conditions, and organic source, from my experience, also yes.
