In one of the largest studies ever conducted of cannabidiol (CBD) users, 80% declared their experience with CBD as positive, which is phenomenal.
While it's true that Cannabis is a very interesting plant, being used for spiritual and health purposes for thousands of years, this also goes back to the ethics, commitment, and culture of the botanists, and horticulturalists all working to make the CBD field a safe and responsible one to operate in.
One such brand leading the way in this is Ojai Energetics.
Ojai Energetics out of Ojai, California is a company producing high-quality CBD products, but they also have something pretty unique - a water-soluble CBD tincture I really, really like.
The reason their CBD tincture is unique is for a couple of reasons - and it's not just because it's water-soluble, though that's pretty interesting, too.
First, the majority of CBD tinctures, oils and liquids, on the market today are oil-soluble.
There are two main types of liquid CBD you can take, oil and water-soluble, and they both do different things and people have their preferences for each - however... there are very few water-soluble formulas on the market, so this makes this formula unique in that way. (To find out why water-soluble formulas can be more helpful for some, open up a new tab and read more about it on their website here).
Second, it's a company founded by permaculturists, which I am too.
Permaculturists, if you're familiar, can be kind of fringe, but one thing you can count on them for is that they are all about ethical, optimal, organic use of the land and creating a healthy, wealthy and whole ecosystem for all beings. I learn alot from them.
With that, as you might expect, all of their formulas are free of the 7 major allergens:
- Heavy Metals
I like all of this, and the heavy metals one in this list has especially caught my eye, because Cannabis plants are known bio-accumulators, just like the sacred lotus.
They will absorb and accumulate soil and water toxins, storing them in their cells. In fact, these plants can be used to clean up polluted areas, wetlands, and soils. This is good if you're trying to clean up a polluted waterway or previous mining site, however, this isn't good if you're a bird, an animal, or a human... and planning to consume said plants and their tincture is good on that. No heavy metals.
Something else that's also cool about this formula, is that it also includes a propriety super-food antioxidant blend included within it, making it especially great for those who are working with CBD to promote health or to heal certain things in which antioxidants are helpful.
Here are the superfoods in this formula:
- CBD Rich Hemp: Oil from hemp seeds contains Omega 6 and 3s, as well as Alpha Lipoic Acid, ALA, and it is a complete source of protein.
- Moringa: I learned about this one while on a trip with the WHO in Ecuador. Moringa is one of nature’s most nutritional superfoods, also packed with antioxidants A and C, Calcium, etc.
- Acerola Cherry: Certified fair-trade Acerola Cherry, a superfood from Brazil, packed with Vitamin C.
So, it's kind of like a vitamin in addition to a CBD support you get with this formula.
Now, what about taste?
This is important too.
In short, it tastes like a Milk Thistle tincture but more citrusy. In the slideshow below, you'll see the formula is a tad-milky, and I'd say the taste and the mouthfeel of the product definitely reflects that aspect.
Citrusy, but with a definite mouthfeel that reminds me tarte, earthy, very light, slightly crystalized honey. Almost like cooked cactus (also known as Nopal), but sootier, like a Turkish coffee. It's not as sweet as honey or as thick as the coffee, but it's definitely got that bright taste and an earthy, sooty texture, that's uniquely different from many of the oil-soluble formulas out there today.
Because of it's earthy, citrusy, thick mouthfeel, I find mixes in well with smoothies, teas and yes, some restaurants and brunch spots - even put this particular formula in their coffees and latte drinks.
Ojai's formula is available online everywhere, and in person, is mostly carried on the west coast.
But recently, I also heard it was carried at The Butcher's Daughter in NYC, a great place to stop for brunch if you're ever up that way or on your way to the next Oddities Flea Market hosted by Regina & Ryan Cohen, which is kind of like the Hogwarts school supply market, but in real life, and hosted seasonally. But alas, I digress -
I find Ojai's Super CBD tincture tastes great on its own, but if you're new to tinctures (that's what this is, a tincture not an oil), you might be surprised by the texture and want to mix it into something.
So now that I've talked forever about it, here are some pics of the Ojai Super CBD tincture formula:
All in all, I think this is a great formula and I've really enjoyed my communications and experience with Ojai thus far - and it's a formula I carry in my home.
I haven't tried their coconut oil cooking version of this liquid formula, the one you can mix into food and bring to higher temperatures, but I plan to, real soon.
That said - this isn't the only formula of CBD I carry at home, I also recommend an oil-soluble formula, which you'll see in the links below, but for those who want to:
- Pamper their liver or reduce body accumulation for health reasons
- Go with a lighter formula or have one on hand for everyday
- Include an additional vitamin/antioxidant boost with their CBD
- Or experiment with what they're able to safely try with their pets in small doses
This is the formula I like.
I also find that while this formula contains near negligible amounts of THC, it's great for offering to newbies to CBD who might be concerned about the lingering effects on marijuana their body. It's a great, light daytime blend and because it's a water-soluble formula, it doesn't stick around in the body quite as long as the oil-soluble formulas do.
And for those who end up trying it out and liking it, or for those who have a shop, it's worth it to mention that they also have a great wholesale program and they offer generous discounts for when buying in bulk. When I have bulk, people definitely ask me about it. So, you can likely expect your friends and family to do the same. Enjoy!

*They've not paid me to write this and I won't get paid if you purchase with them through my site or links. I'm a wholesale customer and I wanted to share the information about the brands I use with others, in hopes, it will help someone make a more confident decision for their own lives, and for their family, and honestly because I'm a plant chemical nerd myself and found some of this information fascinating.
**Also, none of these statements have been evaluated by the FDA. However, the FDA has recently put out a statement declaring CBD beneficial in experimental models of several neurological disorders, including those of seizure and epilepsy. Read it for yourself here. And here are some (not all)) of the peer-reviewed journal articles highlighting the different results and uses of CBD for different conditions, for those interested.
