Connecting with others in the reading space is something I consider sacred.
I consider the work I do serious, because it is serious.
I don't recommend getting a reading simply to entertain.
And this is why -
When I first started giving readings, I started out by telling myself it was just ‘practice for fun.’
I was practicing for myself - to see if my abilities to see Spirits were actually helpful and worth something.
And I was practicing with others - to see if they could receive meaningful information from the Spirit World through me.
In all honesty, my first foray into readings was an experiment in vulnerability.
Like a child with excitement, after each reading was complete, I would burst off the phone to anyone who would listen,
OMG Can you believe I got that?!
OMG Can you believe he said that?!
OMG OMG Can you believe that she really did die of a heart attack just like I thought?!
I was excited, not only about my own abilities, but I was also excited that what I hoped could be real, actually was - the ability to talk to Spirits and have them know real, valuable information.
In this time of excitement, readings were new, fun and totally unbelievable.
I completed over 100 readings before I took it seriously.
Before my opinion became,
“Death is a serious thing and connecting with the deceased is a very emotional and vulnerable experience that I’m honored to be chosen to do."
It was once,
“OMG CAN YOU BELIEVE GHOSTS ARE REAL?! AND THEY CAN SPEAK THROUGH ME??!?! OMG THIS IS CRAZY!”
This maturing process is something that happens with all intuitive, medium and psychic readers.
Many mediums eventually become seasoned to their work.
They realize that while Spirit connection can be fun, it’s truly an intimate encounter not to be taken lightly.
I consider giving readings a lot like engaging in sex.
In a reading, there is an intercourse that occurs - on at least, the energetic level between medium, client, and Spirit. To perform a reading, you must blend together energy, emotions, thoughts. You discuss and reveal deep-seated fears, worries, and long-standing secretive issues.
When does psychic maturity happen?
The amount of readings, spirit encounters or interactions with clients it takes to step into this state of reading maturity takes time and varies for all of us. For most, it takes at least 1 year of work and a minimum of 100-150 connections. And, it tends to just drop on you one day when there is a true realization that connecting to Spirit is much more than just a fun, crazy thing - it’s a sacred experience.
Being with others and holding the space for someone in one of their most vulnerable life experiences - as they reunite with a loved one - is an honor.
Because of this, mediumship is a sensitive connection filled with vulnerability for everyone involved, each time it happens.
It requires confidentiality, trust and total communication.
It’s definitely a union of the most intimate kind.
PS - By law, some states require you to have the 'for entertainment purposes only' clause on your website. My state does not. Regardless, most psychics do find the clause insulting for the reasons listed above and more.
