A few days ago, I was watching a Ghost television show, hosted by several of your regular, neighborhood Ghost hunters. They were claiming an evil presence in the house they were investigating.
Perhaps there was an evil presence, but that’s not what I saw.
To any clairvoyant medium watching, it was clear to see there was an innocent, confused, desperate to be heard grandfather present, wandering around the home . . . and not really much else.
As the demonic music cued in, I threw up my arms in outrage, changed the channel and then turned to my significant other, demanding to know,
Why isn’t anyone actually helping this man?
Or explaining what is really happening?
Or better yet, sorting out the good from the evil?
Why are all Spirits being cast as evil, when this is clearly NOT the case?
This is not the first time I have seen a normal dead person cast as an evil force by television ghost hunters. Not by a long shot.
Most of those in the Spirit World who are in human structures . . . .are humans.
Most humans, are largely nice, thoughtful and caring individuals. Not demons.
Sorry, Network producers.
When people tend to call a ghost investigator, they are seeking their services because there is a problem in the home.
A real problem? Absolutely yes.
But never a problem that is best solved with demon music and insinuations of evil.
Virtually no problem can be solved with more fear.
So why is it, that television shows, movies and essentially all popular multimedia focuses on the fear-based elements of the Spirit world?
Let me be clear:
There are elements and aspects of the Spirit World that are dangerous.
There are also elements and aspects of the Human World that are dangerous, as well.
And when we ONLY focus on crime, murder, sensational horror and ill-intended humans in the media, it skews our perception of human nature.
This one-sided focus causes us to believe that all humans are bad, out to get us, or worse yet, that the whole world is a largely unsafe and treacherous place.
This is a horrible worldview.
And it’s already being perpetuated by popular media about humans on Earth, so why are we now letting this worldview, continue to be perpetuated into the Spirit World?
It doesn’t make any sense.
It wasn’t a good idea the first time.
Professional mediums would like to see a more positive portrayal of the Spirit World - one that is more representative of the truth.
Network executives, it’s time to show the other side of the coin. Well past time.
Television’s portrayal of the Spirit World currently perpetuates a culture of fear about the Spirit World.
When we start to fear our own fathers, mothers, uncles and friends who are also in Spirit - this is a problem.
WHY do we love someone wholeheartedly and enjoy being around them when they have a physical body, and then are made to fear them and detest their presence when they lose that physical body?
This is a sad thing.
We can’t even enjoy the presence of our own family and friends in Spirit because we are asked believe that all Spirits equal bad. Or that actually LIKING Spirits makes you crazy.
Television asks you to think:
Spirit Presence = Actually a Demon
When the reality is often:
Spirit Presence = Actually your Dad
Are you for real, television?
This is ridiculous.
Fear Based Television Shows and Movies do more damage than good.
When You Focus on Dark Spirits, You Actually Draw in Dark Spirits
Yup. You are creating more problems than solutions.
When you watch television shows on Demons, Dark Entities and Harmful Earthbound Spirits, these members of the Spirit World take notice and start to think YOU are interested in them and what they have to offer.
Think of internet advertising.
You start browsing for baseball hats and as soon as you sign onto Facebook, there’s an advertisement that pops up for the exact hat you were just shopping for, because Facebook has noticed your previous searching habits and thought you were interested in hats - because you were.
The Spirit World notices your actions - both the benevolent Spirits and the malevolent Spirits. I have had countless people contact me regarding serious problems in their home after watching a ‘dark spirit centric’ television show or movie.
The Spirit World is 100% aware of us in the physical world and they take notice of what you do.
If you show interest in their ‘offerings’, the offerings of whatever side of the coin, the Spirits that you show interest in may actually start to show up - seeing your interest as an open invitation in your home.
Thankfully, if you show interest in Angels, Deceased Loved Ones and Spirit Guides, they also notice, and will start showing up if you pay attention to them, too. It works both ways.
This is why there needs to be a show where Crossed-Over Light Spirits are actually given a spot in the limelight.
The Dark World has had their reign for far too long. We already know they can be scary - let’s see the other side now.
This Pattern Prevents People From Being Comfortable with the Spirit World
People’s mothers are in the Spirit World. People’s adorable grandfathers live there, as well. So do people’s hysterical, fun-loving uncles.
Can you really ask us to believe that it’s all evil, when it is so clearly not?
Creating the one-sided perception of evil is damaging to people who actually want to safely connect with their deceased mother after her crossing over. When people are scared, they will hedge away from things that could actually be very healing and helpful for them.
If everyone is terrified of all things unseen, there is no way they can feel safe enough and comfortable enough to have a beautiful, beneficial and completely healthy relationship with a deceased loved one in Spirit.
Quit ruining it for people who are grieving and seeking a safe connection. Quit-it.
There are nice Spirits over there. There is no reason for people to believe that if they even tried to connect, they may be opening up a portal for demons. Almost no one could do this unless they specifically tried or intended to do so. Regular people do not generally know how to open demon portals - or any kind of portal for that matter - so it pretty much never happens.
Working in the Spirit World can be as safe as crossing a neighborhood street. Sure, you have to look both ways, sure, you have to be aware, but no more aware than an afternoon walk around the block. For real.
Once you understand basic street smarts, which I teach you for free all over this website, you are going to be fine.
A television show that actually explains how regular people can communicate with their mother in Spirit in a safe way would be great.
No demon portals or haunted mirrors included, please. Also, let’s leave out that audacious music.
The Public is not Educated on What is Actually Happening
When you scare people, you don’t help them.
Look, you do not have to search for Spirits in pitch black basements - news flash ghost shows - they actually exist everywhere, at all hours of the day.
I could point them out to you with the lights on, at 2 pm in the afternoon. I could point one out to you at Kroger grocery store or just about in any place, anywhere. With or without electrical interference. With or without (preferably without) any special equipment, because frankly I tried that once, and it’s too damn much to carry around.
Let’s focus on education now.
When I worked for the San Diego Zoo, we called it edu-tainment.
There IS a way you can teach people and be entertaining at the same time. I’ve been trained in it and so have all of my former co-workers. It’s 100% possible when working with rhinoceroses or Spirits.
Just ask the World’s Greatest San Diego Zoo, my previous employer.
When you scare people, no one learns.
In fact, people decide they better not learn, because it’s just too scary and just too dangerous.
This is how people come to believe that rhinoceroses are dangerous, when they are actually docile herbivores.
Likewise, this is how people come to believe that their dead aunt is a demonic force, out to ruin their life. And that’s a shame. It’s a serious shame.
Assuring that people believe only danger exists in the Spirit World, is like convincing people that everywhere they look, is a serial killer waiting to attack. That’s not even ethical.
Do killers exist in the human world? Yes.
Are they the norm? Absolutely not.
Evil is not the norm for the Spirit World. . . and convincing people into believing that is wrong.
Demons are real. Dark entities are real.
But they generally leave most people alone.
The most common Spirit in any home is a deceased person.
And generally, not an evil one.
Can we have a television show that teaches people this?
