Find And Choose Your Favorite Psychic Medium
The truth is, choosing a medium is just like choosing your therapist, choosing a new hairdresser, or even like choosing a doctor.
They all specialize in something and it can take a few tries to find your gal or guy, paying for a few haircuts before you get the one you really want.
So to save some trouble -
Here are a few tips to align you with that practitioner of your dreams, a little faster:
How to Choose Your Psychic Medium
When you're choosing a psychic medium, there are at least five different factors you want to consider before making your decision, and here they are:
I like to say that psychic mediums are like home repair guys.
Some guys work on the pools, others work on the cabinets.
The key to getting the reading you want is knowing what you need from the reading.
In other words, you wouldn't hire a cabinet guy to fix a pool pump.
Just like when it comes to choosing therapists, house repair guys, or even doctors, most mediums specialize in working to heal certain areas, with certain people, dealing with certain issues.
A medium’s chosen speciality has to do with their received training, their own personal preferences and interests in the field, and how their natural gifts work.
Some mediums specialize in working with grieving parents, some with husband-wife connections, some specialize in relationship/family healing, and others specialize in only communicating with Angels.
Identify which area in the field your medium focuses on with what you're looking for, and you’ll get a better match for what you need.
By Personal Style and Personality
A medium is a person who also serves as a conduit for you to receive a message from the Other side. The way messages are delivered varies from medium to medium and the way you receive message varies depending on how you feel about it.
If a joking, light hearted medium would rub you the wrong way, when trying to bring through you dad, choose a more serious, motherly looking medium instead.
Try to get a feel for a medium’s personality before booking a session. Visit their website, check out their Instagram, go to their Facebook page. Chances are, if you actually like the person behind the medium, you’ll like the session they provide you.
By The Spirits They Work With
If you want to connect with a specific deceased loved one, try not to go to a medium who specializes in working with only Spirit Guides. For example, deceased people seem to love to come through in my sessions. Angels? Nah, not so much.
While I tend to have an affinity for the DPs (deceased people), not every medium is a deceased people medium.
Learn who your medium naturally connects with (this should be clear on their website) prior to booking your session and there will be a much better chance you’ll get to talk to the person you're hoping to.
By Types of Readings Offered
If a medium offers Spiritual Coaching on their website and the marketing is geared towards other intuitive professionals who want to develop their business, don’t book them with the expectation your mother is going to come through.
Make sure their available reading types match what type of connection you're looking for. If it's not on their website, they don't have it available.
When looking for a psychic medium, most people would like to find someone in your area, but let me tell you something:
Most mediums collectively agree that telephone readings are just as accurate, if not more accurate, than live readings. The reason being is that on a telephone line they can focus more on the energy of the Spirits present and less on the client’s energy, making for a clearer read all around.
Give this fact, due to modern technologies, location doesn’t matter in terms of accuracy or who you are limited to working with.
Consider a telephone reading and get the reading of your dreams from any medium in the world.

Price is listed last here because it should be the absolute last thing considered when choosing a medium.
The average price of a mediumship reading in the United States is $185 USD but keep in mind, while you can get a deal -
Readings are pricings are largely dependent on:
- Market rate and demand in their area
- Overall training level, skill, experience and demand
- Length of practice, professional training received and level of experience
- Limitations placed by the medium's religion, family, and their culture
- How much value the medium places on the worth of their gifts
- Overhead of rent, admin costs and utilities to run their business in that area
Most mediums are service professionals that are paid via an hourly rate, much like you would pay a therapist, a lawyer or a life coach. And they are generally all worth the price.
That in mind - never book a medium for a price you’ll feel sorry about later.
Mediumship readings are non-refundable once the service is provided.
So, make sure you are comfortable with the price before the reading starts.
That said, there are practitioners available at nearly every price point.
Student prices can range between $25-60 a reading and don't be swayed just because the reader is a student - student readings are often very good as they are very eager to do well.
Spiritualist mediums can price their readings offered during services that are discounted for parishioners.
Vendors who offer their services at festivals generally will offer special festival price points that are well within the affordable range. So you may want to wait for the next metaphysical festival to book your session.
And finally, remember that getting a good reading is about you, too
As much as it is about the medium.
Any connection with a medium is a three-way link between You, the Medium & the Spirits.
Getting a quality reading is only one-third related to the quality of the medium you've chosen.
You can improve your chances of getting the best reading possible yourself by:
Meditating before your session to make sure you're in a clear place to understand and take in the messages
Identifying and inventorying any possible dead people you've ever known to die because, no it's not unreasonable or out of the question for that third grade teacher you loved so much to show up.
By limiting the amount of information you share with your medium ahead of time - this is actually not related to feeding the medium but more related to letting the medium talk and do their job as much as possible.
And by showing respect to the spirits by participating in the medium's before session ritual, if they do a prayer, for example, take their hands. If they do an offering of tobacco, bow your head.
Respect does really go a long way in getting the spirit world and the medium, both, on your side.

Enjoy your time!
And, if this is your first time booking a medium - remember - just like finding a stylist may take a few tries before you find the one that meshes with you, the same goes for mediums, healers, and shamans. Most people like to try out at least 2-3 different sessions to get a feel for the style they like, before settling on their go-to reader for life.
