When it comes to the intuitive world, I often think of it as a vast, wide ocean. Each time we reach out to communicate with those in Spirit, be it our own Spirit or the Spirit of another, such as a Guide, Angel or Loved One, we dive into the ocean of the vast unknown and start swimming.
We already have a pretty good understanding of the types of characters you can and do meet on dry land in the physical world. You can easily spot the friendly folks and differentiate them from the ones that give you the shivers as you walk by
If I asked you to, you and I could sit down at a outdoor patio cafe table and watch people as they walked by. We could postulate on which ones seemed beautiful, friendly and loving and which ones seemed not so beautiful, friendly or loving. We could decide who it would be safe to approach and who it would not be safe to approach. We could collectively choose those who, if they came over to our table and had a seat, would help us make for a wonderful afternoon.
You, in this moment, have a rough idea of the people who could lift you up and the people who could bring you down. You may even be able to identify at least 3 people that you know right in this moment who continually make you feel good in their presence. . . .and perhaps just a few people, that you have known or simply passed by, who have continually made you feel worse or uneasy in their presence.
In the Spiritual World, these individuals are called:
Light Spirits - Good Spirits, Benevolent Spirits, Friendly Ghosts, Angels, Spirit Guides, Loved Ones in Spirit, and all those living in the the Divine Light.
Dark Spirits - Bad Spirits, ‘Evil’ Spirits, Dark Spirits, Earthbound Ghosts, and all those living in the Dark, the Shadow of the Other Side.
In the intuitive ocean, there are hundreds if not thousands of species you could potentially meet, all within these two groups of Spirits. Once you start swimming around in the spiritual world, learning about it and interacting with it, you’ll begin to identify the fish, and then you begin to notice even more subtle differences that distinguish those in Spirit as either Whales or Sharks.
When you first encounter a Spirit in the Spirit World (the ocean), there are tell-tale signs that a Spirit is present, which we’ve discussed many times on the blog, but in short, they are:
4 Tell-Tale Signs a Spirit is Nearby
Increased pressure around your head, chest or in the room around you. This can manifest as feelings of heaviness, difficulty breathing fully.
Sudden acceleration, feelings of nervousness or anxiety, as indicative of an increase in energy in your space. This can manifest as nervous twitches or ticks.
Hearing whispering, talking or humming around you
Feeling that someone is in the room with you, but being unable to physically see anyone
After you’ve verified that a Big Fish has just swam by you in the ocean, it’s time to identify whether it is a Shark or a Whale.
Whales in the Spirit world are Spirit Guides, Angels and Deceased Loved Ones. They have big, influential impacts on the ecosystem within the oceans, yet they won’t hurt you. Many Whales in the Spirit harvest their own energy directly from the Divine Light, thus they won’t draw on your energy or resources to obtain their own. They’ll swim by you and while an interaction with a Whale has a chance to profoundly impact your life. It’s usually for the better.
Sharks in the Spirit World are those who exist in the darker realms, and they don’t harvest energy from the Divine Light. While they certainly could harvest energy from the Light, they actually gain their energy from the other creatures swimming in their space. These are Earthbound Spirits, Ghosts or other entities lacking a Divine Source. Sharks are in the intuitive ecosystem for balance, awareness and to increase survival awareness and ingenuity for the other creatures. With Sharks present as you swim in the ocean, you maintain keen awareness of your environment and become a better swimmer, a gift given to you by the Sharks.
With Dark Spirits, you learn discernment. And with knowing the opposites, you can compare the differences as you learn how to identify a Whale (a benevolent plant eater) from a Shark (a potential predator).
Discernment is keen perception with the absence of judgement, and it is an essential part of learning how to interact in the Spirit World.
Without the ability to identify who lifts us up and who brings us down, how would we ever grow? How would we ever progress and move forward? How would we ever decide on the right friends for us?
In the Intuitive Ocean, it’s essential to learn who are the potential friends you can surround yourself with, and who are those in which you are safest to swim away from.
How to Identify a Whale (Light Spirit)
Light Spirits are your friends. They are your Guides, your Angels and your Deceased Loved Ones who have fully crossed over and are existing in Spirit to enhance, support and assist you in your physical life. When they are present, you’ll likely notice some of the tell-tale Spirit signs, discussed above, but there will be additional identification characteristics, so that you know for sure, that this is a safe-Spirit that you are interacting with - someone who is aligned with your highest and greatest good.
Once you identify that a Spirit is present in your space by feeling an increased pressure, noticing a sudden acceleration in your energetic system, hearing voices or feeling someone invisible around (these are all key traits of Spirit ID), these ID characteristics are often signature of a Light Spirit:
Pleasant skin sensations such as tingling, tickling, warmth
Pleasant internal sensations of fullness, warmth, feeling as though you’ve been ‘joined’ by someone
Kind words and thoughts as in hearing gentle words of encouragement, supportive words,or funny words
Paired with the tell-tale signs, additional pleasant symptoms are a sign a Light Spirit is with you.
How to Identify a Shark (Dark Spirit)
Dark Spirits are individuals who may have not crossed over into the Light yet or they are individuals who are purposely chosen to live and lead a darker life and Spirit Path. Whether or not they are loving, compassionate souls at heart is irrelevant here, as many people are loving and kind at heart, but projecting something else externally that is unsafe for your well-being. Think of it this way, on Earth, I have many friends who are kind loving people, but sometimes, when they are angry, upset, grouchy, self loathing or unsatisfied, they can act as a Shark, and bring my energy down or eat away at my present state of being.
Dark Spirits are sometimes only Dark Spirits for a temporary time, where some can be crossed over, talked out of it or changed to another way of life, but in this exercise, don’t worry about it. Just know there are those Spirits that can bring down and feed on your energy, in an effort to gain the energy they need for survival. These are ghosts, earthbounds or entities who have specifically gone away from the Light and transitioned into the Dark Underworld. When they are present, you’ll notice the tell tale symptoms listed above as heaviness, pressure and acceleration, but you’ll also notice a few other additional characteristics. These individuals are not, at present time, aligned with you for the outcome of your highest and greatest good.
Once you’ve decided that a Spirit is present in your space, these ID characteristics are often signature of a Dark Spirit:
A sinking/cooling feeling in your gut or around you, as if the energy is getting lower around you
A feeling of fear which is sometimes their fear you are sensing, in the case of an earthbound, but if you feel afraid, honor it, it’s your intuition telling you something
Hearing negative words and thoughts is a sign that there is someone around you who is manifesting energy that will bring you down
Paired with the tell-tale signs, these are additional symptoms are a sign a Dark Spirit is with you.
Once you know who is swimming with and near you, you have a better idea of how to navigate the ocean, which activities to keep doing or to stop doing, in order to attract more Whales (Light Spirits) or to attract less Sharks (Dark Spirits).
If you should encounter a Shark, you’ve done nothing wrong. This is a natural part of swimming in the ocean of the spiritual world. Sometimes, you can’t help who swims by you, yet, you can help how you respond to it. Be proactive in learning how to identify who and what swims by you when they do, and you can promptly choose an action.
Next time you encounter a Spirit, use the identification characteristics to narrow down whether you have a Whale or a Shark on your hands.
See if you can tell who has swum into your space. If you have a Whale, swim over, investigate, try to communicate. If you have a Shark, swim away, tell it to leave, escort it away from you - or ask your Guides to help you with this.
Practice enhancing your ability to discern the who is who of the Spirit world by applying it in-action, while you swim, and soon, you’ll begin to notice even more subtle differences in those swimming in the ocean near you.
Soon, you’ll begin to notice even the tiniest differences necessary to identifying specific individuals in Spirit!
