What to Do When you Feel like Giving Up
Feel like giving up?
I've been there, too.
There have been plenty of times in my life, where I felt the best decision was to give up.
Giving up on trying to follow my soul’s purpose, on myself and my ideas, on someone or something else, or on Spirit.
Yup - I said it.
I have felt like giving up on Spirit.
And if you’ve ever followed an intuitive path, a spiritual pursuit or any path at all - you know exactly what I’m talking about.
I've felt like giving up on myself, my life, and all my relationships, and this is a very hopeless place to be; however, there are usually solutions and things that can be done.
Before we get into what can be done, I also want to mention that these feelings commonly arise when we're undergoing a significant amount of change in our lives - such as a relationship upheaval, a loss in the family, or even a change in income.
Any change in the current state of the status quo can create a situation of unsteadiness and this situation of unsteadiness can make you feel like what's it all for.
So before you completely walk away and throw your hands up in the air... there are a few things that you can do to turn around.
What to do...
When you want to give up
1. Recall Times When It Worked Out.
Take a moment to recall other times just like this one, when you started to lose your patience, sense of direction and were on the verge of making the decision to turn your boat right back around and head to shore.
And then, suddenly, a fish jumped behind you.
Something happened, where what you thought wouldn’t work out - did.
If it happened once like this, it could most certainly happen again.
2. Get Out Of The Pool And Take A Step Back.
I often compare the spiritual and intuitive realms as one giant swimming pool. A pool that you jump in, swim around and begin to learn by treading water within it. It’s a leap to get into the pool and it’s a climb to get out, but just as humans are good swimmers naturally, they also walk on land.
You’re a physical body and a Spiritual body.
If you've been sorting out a problem, racking your brain trying to figure it out, there a chance you've been scanning the intuitive fields for far too long, and it's time to get some perspective.
Dry off, take a break. Quit figuring it out for an hour or two.
Then, when you’re ready to jump back in, you’ll have a better idea of which pool sticks you were aiming for at the bottom in the first place.
3. Give Yourself Something Else To Focus On.
Give yourself something to focus on in the physical world. Read a book. Plant a garden. Get back into running like you used to or work on working for someone or something else for a couple of hours, while you take a break from figuring out your life.
Get grounded, regain your center, and come back to the heart of why you're here.
Even if you are in the midst of total crisis, focus on the moment, the task before you, can help take the stress off of the task that needs to happen six weeks from now.
This allows you to get done what you can get done at the moment, and gives you space from existential stress.
4. Remember Your Spirit Guides.
There are specific Spirit Guides for times just like these.
They're called Companion Guides.
A companion guide is someone in Spirit who walks beside you, holds your hand, and pats your back during tough times. This someone could be an Angel, a Spirit Guide, a Loved One, or a Pet.
Often, your companion guide is an animal guide, such as a Wolf Guide, but not always.
Sometimes, it’s an Ascended Spirit or Archangel.
A few weeks ago, I called on a Companion Guide whilst out to get a small, $12 manicure, as a pick me up while I was actively writing away on material for one of the new courses I was working on.
I asked them to direct me to the ‘right’ nail salon and found myself in a tiny shop in Philadelphia.
There, new technicians were being trained in massage, and I was invited to an hour long, head, neck, shoulder, and hand massage, totally for free.
They’ll guide you to things like that and not just for me.
Take a moment to ask a Companion Guide to step forward and provide you with a much-needed break in the form of a treat, a compliment, a free surprise or an opportunity to take a load off.

After you do think about your guides, take a step back, and even take some time to work on the work before you, taking you out of your own existential crisis, also know that not every situation you have 100% complete control over, as most situations involve the cooperation of other people.
You can do what you can do to manage the situation, influence the minds of those around you, and sometimes, that's all you can do.
The rest you have to give up to the forces that be while continuing to do the best you can to make headway, each and every day, on your own personal goals.
Taking a breather will help, as will taking steps to make progress on your life path, but most importantly, remember to breathe.
