Do pet spirits visit us? Will my dead dog visit me? Do our deceased pets visit us? Looking for signs your deceased pet is visiting you?

Below I answer these questions and feature the most common signs from pets in Heaven.

Many pet owners comment on receiving signs from their animal friends in the afterlife. Ranging from songs on the radio to hearing the jingle-jangle of their collar from down the hallway, communicating with pets after death is not unusual.

Your pet loves you, and that love transcends this plane.

Pet visitations touch everyone, converting even the most staunch skeptics to the everyday believer, so we must discuss them candidly.

If you've been a spirit visitation skeptic until now, well, you're not alone. Cats and dogs both come back and surprise-visit their owners once they've passed on.

Or if you've now found yourself wondering if dogs come back in spirit, or what are the most common signs from your pet in the afterlife, you're also not alone. Pet spirits visit their humans a lot once they've moved over into the other realm.

Sometimes, these visits happen within hours.

So without further ado, below are the most common types of visitations you'll receive from your pets once they've transitioned.

These have been documented from personal experiences, client call experiences, a roundtable with other mediums, and family recounts of events.

1. You hear their paws jaunting around upstairs

Pet visitations can often wake us up and catch our attention through the creation of noise in your physical space.

2. You smell them

Clairalience is possible, even after you've cleaned the carpet, the floors, and the furniture. Smell visitations are one of the most rewarding forms of energy pets use to remind us of them.

Their scent often brings up some of the fondest memories, and our pets want us to remember them in a good way, so this is often a choice method.

3. You hear their dog collar from down the hall

This one comes from a family story, and it can be comforting. Though some spirits do not make chime or bell noises, pets and angels do.

The chime of a collar often sounds like the tink of a bell, and it's a common sign.

4. You hear their pant-sigh to come back inside from being out

This is a big one for dogs, but it is common to hear all the voices of spirit, especially when you are open to it. Usually, when you hear their voice, they are stopping by to say hi.

5. You feel their presence curl up next to you

This is a cat-dominant one, but dogs in the afterlife will do it, too, primarily if they were known for being a snuggler or enjoyed lying in bed with you.

Look for sensations along the backs of your knees at the foot of your beds, or along your back. This visitation usually begins around six months after their crossing but can start anytime.

Their spirit presence can even make a physical impression on the sheets of the bed.

If you enjoy this method of visitation, consider a meditation to call their spirit-forward while laying down to amplify your experience of the love-presence of their energy while they're there.

6. You catch their presence out of the corner of your eye

Clairvoyant images are more than hallucinations.

Some humans can see beyond the standard range of seeing, and it's now thought possible that the retina really does see more than we think.

These types of visitations are very common, and they are often associated with a hopeful feeling in the Heart Chakra area.

7. You hear their song on the radio

One of my favorites. If you listened to a song after their passing and took it as a message, watch for it later on.

This is common with all types of pets, and usually, it's the song that played in the car on the way home from the vet after putting them to sleep that you'll hear or the song that you heard right after their passing.

Some of us decide on theme songs for our pets, though, and if that's you, when you hear your pet's theme song, this is, of course, a sign.

8. You're feeling down, then get a happy thought out of the blue about them

Their face smiling at you. A moment you shared together. Pets can send happy memories to lift us up from across the veil. They can do it unprompted we can also ask for them.

This is the continuation of a particular type of telepathic communication many pet guardians have with their long-term friends while alive, and know this bond transcends in death.

9. You wake up to their tweets or feeling their whiskers across your face

You may sense their energy body with you after they cross, right in the room. It can feel like a cloud of energy, and for some, it can create emotion.

If you suddenly miss your pet and become overcome with energy, ask, is there something about the energy of the room that just changed. If so, you could be sensing their spirit in the room with you. For some, it feels like a tickle of their fur on your face.

10. You're sent a new friend relatively soon thereafter

A stray cat appears at your door. A new animal moves in and asks for your attention. Someone offers you to pet sit their bird. A friend needs you to foster a dog they found. You end up meeting a lot of new animals.

These messengers are also signs from your deceased pet, they want you to be happy again. They are personally approving of this new messenger, perhaps even coming back in spirit through them, in many ways.

You can accept your new friend, or wait until you're ready. The healing process is up to you and know your pet wants you to do it your way.

to recap, the top ten signs your pet is visiting you are

  1. You hear their paws walking

  2. You smell their scent

  3. You hear their collar

  4. You hear their voice

  5. You feel their presence in bed or on the couch

  6. You catch their presence in your peripheral vision

  7. You hear their song, a song that reminds you of them, on the radio

  8. Happy thoughts of them come in out of the blue when you need cheering

  9. You think you feel their fur on your skin when resting

  10. You receive a new animal friend shortly after their crossing

The truth is, your pets love you more than you even realize. They are okay with the choices you made because, in reality, you did it together.

This love and connection continues on into the afterlife.

Pets are the true epitome of unconditional love and these are just a few ways they display it. For many of us, they teach us how to love from a pure and totally elemental heart.

So in their transition, we usually open to a greater sense of love.

As such, many pets continue to guide us in love in the afterlife. Many of them are transitioning to our spirit guide team almost immediately once they reach the other side.
