When you look to the top of your screen, you may have already noticed that the main image is a beautiful, purple Iris. And you also may have already expected, there’s a reason for this.
The Iris is my symbolic flower signifying mediumship, spiritual communication and a connection to the Divine.
The Goddess Symbolism
The Goddess Iris is the personification of the rainbow and the messenger of the Gods. Iris is a goddess of sea and sky. She is a blending of the two elements earth and air, colors blue and red. Her father, Thaumas was a marine-god, and her mother Elektra a cloud-nymph. In myth she appears as an errand-running messenger, as a message deliver.
She is known as one of the goddesses who links the sea with the sky, connecting the Spirit world to the Physical world, linking Heaven with Earth. As a divine messenger.
The Floral Symbolism
The flower Iris, also has rich meaning, as a flower with over 200 varieties in wide spectrums of colors and habitats, the Iris, can be found in nearly every area of the physical world, growing both naturally and being cultivated in farms. Irises are available everywhere and to everyone who seeks to find them.
In Greece, purple Iris flowers were traditionally planted over the graves of women to summon the Goddess Iris to guide the dead on their journey. As her flower, the iris thus symbolizes a safe, guided link between the heavens and the earth.
The shape of the flower - specifically the trinity of the petals - is symbolic of the three-way connection often required in spiritual communication, between Spirit - Medium - Message Recipient.
The Color Symbolism
The outer flowers of the Iris are purple, as this color is symbolic of divine intuition and psychic awareness. Access and developing your intuitive abilities is essential in forming a clear, strong connection from yourself to Spirit.
The center floral color of yellow is symbolic of the golden, Divine Light which exists in each person when connected in a sacred meeting between selves within the Spiritual world and the Physical world.
The goddess Iris, the flower Iris and the colors and shape of the flower itself combine to form the perfect symbolism for creating a universal and sacred connection to Spirit.
The symbolic meaning of the Flower Iris is:
A divine link between heaven and earth, a guide connecting the living and the deceased, psychic abilities and intuition, messenger of the divine, trinity in connection, spiritual communication, openness to the spirit world.
