Yesterday, I visited very old antique store, located in a historic, 3-story building in historic Philadelphia, specializing in Victorian era furniture. While in the store, I noticed giant, hand carved wooden hotel bars, marble fireplaces, butcher tables, mirrors, and lots and lots of old doors. It was beautiful, and if only I could afford the high price tags, I’d have purchased everything inside.
Also while there, I noticed several Victorian era Spirits - some wandering in the rooms, some just chatting amongst themselves, and others tending to bar, as though business never slowed down.
And I got to wondering, why here?
Is this building some sort of portal?
Is the furniture bringing them in?
Is it just all the mirrors?
And my significant other and I started arguing, what exactly IS a portal, and what is the difference between a portal and just a method of communication with those still in the physical realm?
Here’s what we came up with:
A Portal is any person, place or object that acts as a channel for unrelated Spiritual beings to travel to and from the physical realm we know as Earth.
Portals can include man-made entry points such as mirrors, doorways, and windows. Those in Spirit often enter our houses through doorways, especially if we live near a busy street, or through a window ~ a favorite portal of Angels and Guides.
Natural entry points also exist, such as energy vortices, with locations all over the globe! Places where many individuals in the physical realm are crossing over into the realm of Spirit (such as in the death transition), can also be portals.
Think of hospice centers, hospitals, and war zones.
Since many Spirits were once human, humans can also act as portals, though in this case, I prefer to use the word channel - these are natural spirit sensitives and mediums, like myself, and it’s true whether the person is aware of it or not.
Though they may seem like it, objects such as Ouija boards, electronic devices, and pendulums are not portals, rather, they are communication tools that can be used to connect with a Spirit already present. Thus, having these items in your house, while they may draw spirits closer to you, with an interest in communication, are not open doorways. Rather, consider yourself, the one who uses the tools, as the portal or channel of energy to come through.
Additionally, while Spirits can be attached to furniture, objects, and buildings, these examples qualify as Individualized Channels, NOT Portals.
Did your grandfather build a beautiful grandfather clock, now in located your dining room?
While this clock may be his portal to visit your family, it is an individual channel for him only, since he was so connected to it while alive.
Have a special necklace from your grandmother and you feel your grandmother’s Spirit is with you while wearing it?
This is a channel for the original owner of this piece.
Have something that you believe is a portal, whether for all spirits or just one Spirit, and you want to ‘close’ this portal?
In most cases, you can.
